Congratulations from one Bay Stater to another.

And I agree that few things in life are as good as sitting next to a warm African campfire at the end of a long day of hunting.

Congratulations on a fine hunt, Atticus! Nice animals! I agree with you. Fair chase is the most important. Record book trophies is a bonus.

Nice trophies, and looks like there was really nice scenery too! One quality the Eastern Cape has over the relatively flat Limpopo province.

This is my first report, so I will be brief:

Ive been back for a few weeks now and wanted to post my thoughts on my guide and the hunt I had in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. This was my first trip to the RSA and I spent a lot of time researching. I was more interested in a fair chase hunt than I was with filling a lot of tags. In addition, I was also interested in taking representative trophies not getting into a record book. In fact, I never measured any of them.

My hunt was better that I had ever hoped it would be. My guides, Bruce Truter and Noel Ross, were terrific and the hunting was tough and enjoyable. In fact I have never enjoyed a hunt more! I had a great fair chase hunt for three species, Impala, Blue Wildebeest and Kudu. The accommodations were fantastic and the food even better. What I liked best was the talk around the fire each night, enjoying a drink and a cigar while discussing the days hunt and strategy for the following day. Bruce and Noel are hunters, and I learned much from these discussions.

I judge my hunts on difficulty, scenery, amount of game seen, and my ability to relax and enjoy myself. My expectations were exceeded on all accounts. I look forward to hunting with Bruce and Noel again. Maybe next year, if I can convince my boss...

Atticus,

Congratulations, you got off to a good start on your first safari and I am sure you will go back soon now that you have the "fever". Nothing compares to Africa IMHO.
