Just a thought, a request (or perhaps a rant). To me, the care of trophies from the time they are recovered to the skinning, salting, dipping, packing, waiting, sitting, permits, moving a little, holidays, sitting some more, crating, shipping, clearing, shipping again etc.... all together makes up a VERY important part of a safari. It really should be included in evaluating and reporting on the WHOLE experience. I enjoy everyones hunt reports but many times they are incomplete without a comment on the final phase. If at all possible, go back and make a note on your reports regarding how everything was handled once your trophies are hanging on the wall. The very best safaris can be soured by problems after you get home. A PH's work is not done when you walk up to the animal. If there are problems, the world should hear about it. If stuff is missing from your crate or you get the wrong animals, we should hear about it. If the crating is insufficient or the costs are not in line, tell us. If the horns are cracked, black and overboiled, shout it out. Thanks.

Well said Grafton.. A wonderful trip can be brought back down to earth really fast when you open the crate that contains the trophies you worked so hard and traveled so far to get, only to find them over boiled, grease burnt, and harboring a farm of mold.. Great idea.

Very true and an excellent idea. I have done this for a number of my reports (where there were trophies involved), and plan to so the same as soon as my first trophy from Cameroon is mounted which will hopefully be early April. In addition to posting a few of the mounts, I even took a picture of the crate that arrived from Tanzania. Something else that is also helpful is the time it took to ship, who cleared the shipment and how that went, and although subject to change what the shipping costs were.
