Were about is the hunt? I bought the SCI action buff hunt in 2007 and i hunted in the Omey region.I got a good buff but it is a difficult area.I was lucky to be able to use my own PH (Mat Stanton) and we just had good luck getting the buff on the first day.I know Ozhunter has hunted through them as well on a moz hunt and did well

It will be in the Omay South consession after the 12th of Oct.

What makes it a difficult area, the terrain or the amount of game? We will also want to include Kudu and maybe a couple of other PG.

Lots of people there. I hunted elephants, no shortage of them. Saw buff sign and got close enough while on elephant tracks to smell buff, but there didn't seems to be an over abundance. Weren't looking for them though!

Didn't see much other game, but again, wasn't looking for any.

Try a search in this forum using Omay South and you will likely turn up some hunt reports.

Best of luck on your hunt. I'll be leaving for Zim on the 28th September and hunting elephants from the first through the 17th. Chewore South first and then Makuti. I'm getting itchy waiting to go, I'm sure you are as well!

I hunted the Omay area with Ozhunter a few years ago and had a great time. the hunt was through Nengasha - based on my experience I highly recommend these guys. Danny and his partner are great guys.

Omay south has a good population of Buffalo, it is not great for PG but it does have a decent amount of Kudu and bushbuck. There are a lot of people in the area and it will not be a typical wilderness hunt but i do not belive that you will be dissappointed. I do not know the outfitter but i have personally been to Omay on a number of occasions.

We will hunt Buffalo in the Omay south area and PG in the Dollar Block. I am just a little excited! I have never been, so probably the first time I won't know the difference. I'll have to go to Tanzania next?

I will have to let my three boys get old enough to go and win the lotery and take the family!

I met and hung out with Danny Friend this past January in Dallas. He is a really nice fellow who, although knowing I already was booking with someone else, offered plenty of advice and encouragement. I'd feel really good about doing business with him. I've exchanged emails with Danny on several occasions since then, especially during the "election" period. Sometimes took a couple days for a reply, but that's common coming from Zim from what I'm told. I'm sure Nengasha will take good care of you and provide a great hunt. If you see Danny, tell him David Walker he met in Dallas said hello.

Good luck and safe travels,

David Walker

The three of us each killed a nice Buffalo, all done in three days! We hunted the dollar block for 6 days and killed 2 Kudu, 3 Impala, 3 Warthogs, 4 Zebra, 1 Wildebeest and had a time of our lives! Our PH's were Craig Robinson and Wayne Bartlett, both very nice guy's and very knowledgable of the game and the areas we hunted! We stayed in two camps, the first in the Omay South concession, and the second on the Dollar Block, both very nice and well kept!I will be posting pics and a report in the proper forum soon!

I hunted cow elephant with Nengasha in Omay in 2006. Nengasha did a reasonable job and the safari was fun. Not many buffalo in the North Omay, saw only one herd with immature bulls, but wasn't concentrating on buffalo, saw lots of people everywhere though. Didn't see any trophy plains game in that area at all, not that I was looking.

I would book a buffalo hunt and then shift to a plains game area if I wanted plains game.

Hunt the Omay late season when the water is about all dried up and you will see a lot of buffalo and some nice bulls as well.

Glad you had a good hunt Shawn...Maybe you should be thinking Tanzania now!! clap
