Just returned from an awesome buffalo hunt in the Zambezi. It was very tough hunting as the cover was still quite thick and we were within 50 yards of buffalo every day but couldn't see them. Climbed a lot of hills and rocks and on day 5 my buddy and I shot our 2 buffalo which were both very nice. It was a great finish to the buffalo hunt and at the end of the day I wouldn't have it any other way. We fished for tiger fish on the Zambezi (and drank a little beer) then went south for some plains game hunting which was a lot of fun as well.

The first buffalo required some follow-up and it eventually got tired of the game and our PH, Wayne Clark took a charge and killed it at literally 4 paces. Needless to say it was a bit exciting.

I booked this hunt through Adam Clements (again) and can't say enough good things about Adam and his operation. Wayne continues to be an excellent hunting companion, knowledgeable, hard-working, a great hunter and just plain fun to be around. I recommend them both highly.

Hi Rock:

Sounds like you had a great hunt. If you keep in touch with Wayne Clark tell him Jim Petriello says hello. He can also forward that Zayne also...LOL

Yup as soon as I'm back at home I'll try to post some pictures guys. The area we hunted was Chewore North and it was rugged and beautiful country. I would go back tomorrow if I could arrange the time

Jim, you and I traded emails last year re : your trophies and Flora and Fauna - did that get sorted out for you?

Rock,

Did you hunt anywhere close to the Big 5 Safaris camp? I am headed back there for my 2nd safari this August. Hope the cover starts to open up some in the next two months.

Looking forward to seeing your pictures and hearing more about your hunt. Can't wait to get back myself.

Tim

Hi Rock:

Yeah that screw up finally got sorted out. My hides were in my buddies box, and he sent his hides to Virginia without looking inside.

Then the tannery in Virginia gave me a hard time and said they weren't there. After I screamed and yelled and also produced a bill of lading showing my hides were there in fact, they suddenly found them.

They are in my Trophy room now..

Regards... Jim P.

Shumba, yes indeed I was in the Big 5 camp and it was very, very thick. We got very lucky on the first buffalo as it crossed a dry river bed about 90 yards behind us after we walked past it and we go the shot. The second was more typical of what we were encountering and we shot him about 30 yards away in the thornbrush. In general every buffalo or herd we encountered was no more than 50 yards away and not much could be seen of any of them. We did a lot of sneaking around which made it very cool. I am guessing by August it'll thin out considerably. If you haven't hunted this area before try to get out and do some uphill and downhill hikes as it's quite hilly and rugged in places and the buffalo were frequently in these higher locations.
