Time of year depends on what part of Africa you choose to hunt, choice of area will depend on species required and choice of outfitter will depend on standard of hunt and the standard of customer service you want or need, but it's a good idea to remember that there's no such thing as a free lunch and if something looks too good to be true then it probably is.

The African hunting industry (sadly) is full of instant experts who have one or two hunts under their belt and then become agents, and it also has more than it's fair share of people who are willing to take your money and not give a fair deal in return......my advice is to ask for plenty of references from past clients (and check them thoroughly) and stick with people who have been in the business for some considerable time. If you use an agent, ask him to put you in touch with the outfitter/PH at as early a stage as possible. If he won't, he either has something to hide or he doubts the integrity of the company he's representing.... in either case, look elsewhere for your hunt.

Enjoy your research.

Check out www.rwsafaris.com Roger has an excellent reputation. As far as your choice of weapons, they don't come much better than that.
