That was a commercial, with a bit of hunting thrown in.

I have no wish for any professional hunter to whisper sweet nothing in my ears! rotflmo

May be you guys should learn from this.

Too much talking, play acting, and adverts, tend to over shadow the hunt.

I am saying this hoping your shows get better.

Advertising partly pays for the show, no doubt about it.

But don’t make your audience feel that you think they are a bunch of idiots.

Some of the shows I have seen become rather childish, by obscuring the name of any company which not paying for the advert.

Why have them there in the first place then??

Bidding ton has lost his magic.

He seems to have gravitated to a tag along companion.

Hats off to him though, he has not sank to the same level as Mark Sullivan, who shamelessly advertises hunts on YouTube while he is unlicensed to operate in that country.

No hiding his illegal operation

Not exactly sure why, but Boddington has never resonated with me. Maybe is the “well, golly gee,” presentation. Then again the writing doesn’t work for me either.

But he’s made a living at it, so good for him.

There are writers who hunt (Hemingway, Ruark, O’Connor) and hunters who write . Boddington is in the latter group. He is an adequate writer who can draw on vast experiences for material. Even so, I no longer enjoy reading about hunts so obviously paid for by the sponsors; especially Ruger, which went from producing quality products to garbage for the lowest market segment.

Good statement and read the writings of Corbett and his hunting experiences are what we all strive for.

We cannot get those days past.

Corbet hunted, and wrote about it.

Current lot want fame a glory.

They sit at home and work out what the writing should be like, mostly in glorifying themselves, then go out and try to fit the "hunt" around it.

I disagree with your first statement and you and I relish the hunting in remote lands.

I enjoy your films because they are simply about the entire safari experience and without pretence or edit.

I will always recommend hunting a true wilderness area and what I consider fairchase. There is a chap posting here who wants the best possible elephant hunting experience and AR can offer him that.

In essence, when you want to hunt for free/deep discount/payment in kind you can’t bite the hand that feeds you.

Boddington has worlds of experience, but is constrained by the need to keep going to earn his living.

His gee, shucks presentation doesn’t bother me at all... I actually enjoy his shows and writing, but I’ve always wondered how he got as far in Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children with that personality and style... every marine senior officer I’ve met has been much more a forceful personality.

Real strength comes from within. Often the toughest Marines are the quiet, unassuming ones.

I never had a problem with Boddington. Always enjoyed his writings and videos much more than a lot of others.
Problem is these days that everything needs a sponsor and they want their pound of flesh.

Guys,

I think deep down most of us would wish we had been able to do something that got us into the places and on the amount of hunts Craig has made. I don't know that there is an outdoor writer with any more on the ground experience in Africa. When clients ask about reading on current Africa I always recommend Craig.

Agreed the croc was not a monster but it was a fair representation of how they hunt croc there. I've been out there and it is just like the video presented. I'd rather shoot my crocs on the Zambezi or Luangwa where it is easier, you'll see loads of crocs and you can stay dry.

Guys please get it that this was of course an ad for Craig's business. I can't see why anyone would think it was going to be anything else. Additionally the sponsors have to get their exposure otherwise there would be no show.

Mark
