Mark Dedekind Safaris - RSA – 2002 I did a 5 day a la carte hunt at MD’s concession near Thabazimbi Northern Province. 80,000 acres but with a large powerline running though it. There was plenty of game and plenty of shooting. 97 head, including 75 warthog, between the six of us hunting 6:3. Good trophy quality in general. Mark runs a very efficient quality outfit aimed mainly at the European market and German hunters in particular. He specialises in big warthog. He also does driven Blesbok days at his larger Zululand home concession. A very friendly and well run operation and if I were hunting RSA again I certainly would go back. Email me for more details.

Seventy-five warthogs for six shooters...WOW! You've got to tell us all more about this hunt. How big were the warthogs? What else did you shoot?

Bill As you may be aware pigs are very popular with German hunters. The warthogs ranged in size from extremely big boars to entire family groups. It may not be everybody’s cup of tea as we say in these parts, and I admit I was sceptical at first but after I took the kudu and zebra I wanted I was getting stuck into the warthog with the rest of them. We walked them up like partridges. Running warthogs in long grass offer a challenging and very exciting hunt. Most of the guys were using Blaser R93 and were capable of fast accurate shooting. A family of four pigs would be dead in the time it takes to read this paragraph. We also shot some impala, five or six kudu, a few oryx, three blue wildebeest, a couple of jackals, a baboon, two red hartebeest and two zebra. They had to bring in extra staff for the skinning shed!
