Folks,

I'm posting this for a friend that would like to make a report on a really fantastic safari but would also like to remain anonymous. He shot really good trophies. The big lizard is a monster, the reedbuck super and the rest very nice as you can see.

Mark

PH: Lindon Stanton

Areas: Matetsi Unit 1 & Hwange Communal Land

Animals hunted: Buffalo, Sable, Reedbuck, Hippo, Croc

Animals seen: Buffalo, Sable, Reedbuck, Hippo, Kudu, Warthog, Eland, Giraffe, Lion, Wild cat, Caracal, Impala, and many more…….

I have been hunting with Lindon for many years and always have a great hunt. He is a very good hunter and gives 110% all the time!

Matetsi Unit 1 is fantastic for buffalo, we saw 200 to 300 head every outing and turned down a lot of 40” plus bulls even a 45” bull – he was still a little soft. I don’t care much for width as my main interest is age & boss. We did get a nice old big bossed buff on the 4th day. Unit 1 is really the best place for buffalo I have ever been to.

The camp is also fantastic and well run.

Unfortunately the lion population is exploding and giving the plains game a hammering. However we managed to get a nice sable & reedbuck.

The hippo I shot on land with a heart/lung shot. However it ran into the water but not far.

I have no idea what the measurements are on the animals as for me the hunt is the trophy. As long as the animals are mature and it's a good hunt I'm happy.

All in all, another great hunt !

Cheers,

Anonymous

Randy,

This Unit 1 buffalo hunt can be had for the same money as a quality Save Valley Conservancy hunt but will allow 12 days rather than 10.

Thanks very much Mark for posting this for me as I struggle with the photos.
The other great advantage of Unit 1 is that its only about 30 minutes drive from the Falls - Super convenient !

One question, what about elephants?

They do trophy elephants there. Think the last one was around 60lbs. We seen them every day, up to 30 x in a heard.
Problem there is the limited quota, one has to book early. I wanted a 2nd buff but they are sold out for the year.

.

Mark great trophies and seems it was a good hunt. But your opening line "I'm posting this for a friend that would like to make a report .... but would also like to remain anonymous." totally ruins it for me. Shame.

Charlie64, This was no fault of Mark. It was a miscommunication. As you can see in my previous post I thanked Mark for posting it for me as I struggle with photos etc.
Cheers

Charlie,

No worries! For me personally I'd much rather see a hunter sign the report as anonymous than have their face redacted. I know the reason for it but it spoils the picture for me. Just stay out of the picture if you don't want anyone to see your face. That's what AB109 did.

Mark

Love the boss on that buff! I am glad Lin is out and about. I heard a rumor he had some health issues.

I hunted with him in Sep 2016 and he is a great guy to hunt with. I would recommend him (Mbalabala Safaris) to anyone who wants to hunt Zim!

Is Matetsi 1 the old Westwood area? Or is that Matetsi unit 2?

That’s a heck of a lot better than an asinine US Senator just reporting a specious account of an alleged interaction a woman ‘who wanted to remain anonymous’ made months ago, about an incident that supposedly took place 36 or so years ago. I’ll take Mark and AB109 every day over those idiots.
