Ladies & Gentlemen – in this crazy world which has turned into a mad whirlwind, most of us get caught up in day to day headaches which often leave us exhausted but more importantly, unappreciative of the small things we take for granted every day. How many of you have taken a moment during the midst of the hunt and actually thought of how lucky you are for being able and healthy to be doing what many can only dream of….?

On the 20th of June, 2012 – Anthony Howland was accidentally shot in the right arm by a client while on Safari in the Zambezi Valley. This accident very nearly cost him his life but he made it through although unfortunately, the arm could not be saved.

Many of you out there either know Ant or know of his terrible ordeal – those that know him will agree that he has a strong spirit that has made him amazing in the months after his amputation. Gavin Rorke Safaris wrapped up their operation in Dande which left Ant without a job so he approached Chifuti Safaris whom he did his apprenticeship under and they agreed to take him on as a camp manager on Nuanetsi - for obvious reasons, being a PH for Anthony would have to wait awhile.

10 days ago, Ant arrived on Nuanetsi to open Mbizi camp for the busy upcoming 2013 season and it has just amazed me how he just gets on with what he can and doesn't expect pity from anyone!!

Since the accident, this young man has had a huge monkey on his back and he has been itching to be rid of it – to go hunting!!!

I needed some ration meat for the butchery so took Ant out for an afternoon hunt - 11.3.13 – I won’t go into the details but I will say that through his sheer determination and grand effort, he executed a perfect shot on an Impala ram at about 75 yards and then nailed a old Warthog boar at last light at about 100 yards (The first shot on the Hog was low but he then dropped the pig with a running shot!!!!!!!) Both animals were taken off shooting sticks with a 375 Ruger - this was the first time he had used a heavy calibre since his accident AND it was left handed (he used to shoot right handed)!!!!

Ant is more determined than ever to pursue hunting after feeling the adrenalin flow through his veins again whilst in the bush..….

Well done Jerenenje!!

Thanks for the positive post Brent... we have been needing good news in the recent months and this is good news indeed! Pass on my congratulations and hearty well done to Ant!

What an outstanding day for a brave young man.

Is it possible in Zim for him to have a good pistol like a Freedom Arms .454 Casull?
