There is currently an outbreak of Polio reported in Namibia, mainly around Windhoek. For those of you who are going there, you is strongly advised to get vaccinated against this disease. preferably 10 days before you leave. Take along proof of said vaccinations, you might be asked to provide proof . Wouldnt want this to get into the way of a great hunt!

A Polio booster has been recommended for quite awhile when traveling in Africa. Even for those of us that were vaccinated via sugar cubes as kids. John

When you get vaccinated for Polio, make sure a vaccine made from a "killed" virus is used. Some are made from a "live" virus, and your chance of catching the disease from the vaccine is increased.

My wife and I did get a polio booster last year, before heading over, from a killed virus. One of the few advantages from living where I do, in eastern Massachusetts, is the excellence of the medical care. My GP was on top of this issue, and recommended the booster last year. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.
