Post this on the African hunting forum as well. There are some exceptional outfitters in Mozambique, but it also has more than its fair share of outfitters to be avoided at all costs. Look into this thuroughly. No I have not heard of them. I looked into a hunt with Willie van Deventer. I dealt entirely with his son Jaco via email. They seem like a stand up operation. I've got a number of pics from them of clients and camps in the field. Their clients have been almost all European. I know Willie's sister well, she lives here in Texas and raises outstanding Rhodesian Ridgebacks and I bought a pup from her. This ain't no house dog, it's a hunting machine, physically amazing. So she sells dogs just like the ones she grew up with in Kenya, bloodlines out of Holland and South Africa. The family is Afrikaner and they settled in Eldoret, the boys learning to hunt from an early age with dad, neighbors and Africans teaching them. Willie's sister first referred him to me and she sent me the first pics/info. I contacted Jaco and he sent more pics/info and thru many emails over time he explained their operation. I think they are a small operation. Again I think they are perfectly legit and my impression is that Willie has hung in there when it came to dealing with corrupt and manipulative powers that be in Moz. He wouldn't bribe anyone outright nor let them completely run his operation. He stuck to his guns and won out. Jaco told me all this of course, and that they earned a HUGE croc quota and seemingly endless PAC hunts to include ALOT of maneating lion. Areas are Tete, Zambezia, Cabo Delgado & Niassa. They have good general quotas and they do use additional PHs, tho whom I don't know. It's also my understanding that hunting parties can roam somewhat free in the hunting areas and in the north these are along ancient ele trails, adjoining Quirimbas Nat'l Park towards Niassa. Quotas are limited. I'd hunt with them and plan to one day. This said I don't have any client referrals as they are almost all Spanish, German or Polish. I know nothing at all about Gerrie/Hunt Africa. Good luck. http://buffalo.spruz.com/ | |||

There are several Mozambiquan PH's that post on the African Hunting forum. I would ask there. They will be able to help you.
