Just know of him - He is one of the "fathers" of tourist hunting in Namibia and amongst the oldest outfitters in the business. You should be safe...

My very first safari was with them in 95. He has an excellent operation and Steve Tors one of his phs is one of the best in Africa.

Hunted there in '92 with Steve Tors as PH. You will not be disappointed, they are as good as there will ever be.

We see them each year at SCI, and they always remember us.

We hunted with Jan in "97" Our first Safari also. I had Steve Tors also. Our tracker was Noftale who is now a PH.
Everything was great!! Our taxidermist said the capes were in the best condition of any hes ever seen from Africa.
By the way, Steve Tors father was the director Ivan Tors
(Flipper,Gentle Ben, and Daktari) Thats how Steve wound up over there.

I hunted there in 1993 on my first African hunt. My P.H. was Steve Tors, and our tracker was Naftali. Four years ago, I went back and hunted with Jan's outfit again. Steve was my P.H. on this trip as well. The accommodations are excellent, the P.H.s and trackers are excellent, game is plentiful, and the properties he hunts are quite large. Jan's skinners take excellent care of the trophies as well. Mt. Etjo is a wonderful place to go for a first trip to Africa. You'll have a great time.

Take a warm coat, down vest, heavy sweater, and gloves for traveling in the morning. It will be very cold in the back of the hunting vehicle.

Sounds like they're really a great outfitter, no wonder the only had two weekends remaining when hunt was booked on second or third day of SCI convention. No doubt they started booking for 2006 that same week. Will report back with details and possibly pictures. 116 days till hunting time not that I'm anxious or anything.

OK, here's the deal on why you need to take warm clothes for in the morning and also for once the sun goes down: The morning temperatures around dawn will be around freezing. Now, factor in that you'll be in the back of an open hunting vehicle driving along at 30 to 50 miles an hour while traveling to the hunting area. This can take anywhere from a half hour to an hour. The wind chill will be around zero, and it will chill you to the bone. I promise.
