Rifles Used: Holland and Holland 375, Mauser 375 H&H. PH: PH Chris Fisher Areas Hunted: Nchila Nature Reserve and Nkwaji Nature Reserve. Game Sought: Sable, Hartebeest, Bushbuck, Eland. Game Seen: Cape Buffalo, Livingstone's Eland, Sable, Roan, Liechtenstein's Hartebeest, Blue Duiker, Forest Sitatunga, Puku, Reedbuck, Oribi, Kafue Lechwe, Tsesebe, Kudu. This is my first report so excuse me if it is not great. We arrived at Nchila, on our first Hunting Day at around 10:30, we quickly settled into camp and then it was off to the range to sight in the rifles, They were shooting dead on at 100 yards. After a quick lunch back at camp we headed out to look for any of the animals we had on quota. We weren't out of camp more than 10 Minutes and we spotted our first group of Sable, a breeding herd of about 15 cows and calves with one fair sized bull, which Chris estimated would go 40 inches. Nchila enforces a strict rule of not shooting out of breeding herds, as this places unnecessary stress on the animals. We carried on and saw a few more lone sable bulls, nothing that caught our attention. The next morning it was an early start and we were out looking for sable. around mid morning we spotted a lone sable bull feeding in a large open area. Chris decided we should go and take a closer look. We loaded the rifles and started our stalk, the wind was being very unfriendly, changing frequently. At around 400 yards Chris glassed the bull and suggested I take it. Without any hesitation I decided i would take it. We carried on with our stalk and at about 200 yards Chris put me on the Sticks. At the shot the bull jolted forward and made a beeline for the nearby thicket, i quickly put in a second shot and after a quick follow up put in another to finish the job. What a Fine specimen he was, his Scimitar horns measured 42.5 inches when we rolled the measuring tape over them. Next we were looking for Eland for my younger sister, we located two bulls at around midday but they took off at the sight of us. Chris suggested that we give them a bit of time and take a quick rest and then follow up on them. After about thirty minutes we started tracking the two bulls, after around an hour of walking we spotted the bulls on the edge of an clearing about 150 yards away, Chris put up the Sticks and with one quick shot, the Bull was down. Day 3 came and we decided to search for bushbuck for my father. We searched the concession for bushbuck and saw many young rams. About mid afternoon we spotted a great ram that Chris suggested my dad take, a quick stalk and shot and he had his ram on the ground. Later that evening we made the 3 hour trip to Nkwaji, the Fisher's other concession. Here i was after Lichtenstein's hartebeest. We hunted hard on day 4 and saw many " harties" as they are referred to in this part of the world. We put in a stalk on one old bull in the late afternoon but were busted by some francolin. Our last day came and i was still looking for my Hartebeest, we searched around the concession but they seemed to be giving us the slip. Eventually in the late evening we saw a group of hartebeest and saw what chris said was a good bull. One shot from the mauser and he was down. A great end to a truly excellent hunt. Nchila and Nkwaji are truly top class areas were countless numbers of game abound. These areas are a must for anyone interested in taking a truly world class Zambian sable. Chris fisher is a really top class PH who is very knowledgeable and possesses a true love for the African bush. All in all a great hunt. I cant wait for the next one. I cannot seem to post photos so if anyone is willing to help, it would be greatly appreciated, My email address is arturocuturi2@gmail.com please email me and i can give you the photos to post.

The Fishers are some of the best folks I have ever met. They brought wise land\game utilization working conservation to an area rife with poaching, and theirs is one of the shining examples of giving the game value to the local people. Best of the best in my opinion. Congrats Dave Fulson

Arturo, Good report and sounds like you had a brilliant time. Look forward to the photographs. Note we do not have forest Sitatunga in Zambia and you must have been mistaken? Was the outstanding PH Mike Borman on your hunt? ROYAL KAFUE LTD Email - kafueroyal@gmail.com Tel/Whatsapp (00260) 975315144 Instagram - kafueroyal

I´ve read in several occasions that the sitatunga in Nchila are of the forest variety, however I don´t know if they were introduced to the area or they were already native?
