There's not really a best province as such. It all depends on what species you want to hunt. For example KZN has the best nyala. The best way to approach it is to choose the best outfitter for your needs or one with the most choice and then discuss things with him. However, wherever you hunt in RSA you should expect to encounter fences. If you want unfenced areas with good plains game and some DG then the nearest countries to RSA are Mozambique, which is primarily for DG or Tuli Block of Botswana for plains game or Okavango in Botswana for primarily Dangerous Game.

To accurately answer your specific question, the Eastern Cape has the largest unfenced ranches or ranches with 3 strand barb wire....Some of them exceed 500,000 acres...Many of them raise the game that stocks the rest of RSA......not to say that the Transvaal or Limpopo don't have some large parcels of land, but the cape is more condusive to large acreages....
