Well, I’ve been back from my hunting trip to RSA for about two weeks now and I finally have a few minutes to make a small post/report with a few pictures.

Hunt Location: Republic of South Africa, Limpopo, Rooibokkraal

Outfitter: Limcroma Safaris, PH Hannes Els

U.S. Booking Agent: Myself

Travel Agent: Custom Travel Ltd. / Debbie

Flight: United / South African Air

Hunt dates: September 7th 2007 through September 17th 2007

My trophies: Impala, Bushbuck, Grey Duiker, Steenbok, and Porcupine

Trophies from others in the group: Eland, Kudu, Gemsbok, Wildebeest, Impala, Blesbok, Bushbuck, Zebra, Duiker, Steenbok, Baboon and Warthog

Rifles used: 300 mag and Ruger 204

Like most planning a safari mine was no different; it was a lot of research, planning and a long time in the making. I was introduced to Hannes about four years ago and my first impression was I have to hunt with this guy. For the next two years my schedule was too busy to make a trip to Hannes’s but, I could not stop thinking about making a trip to Limcroma. About eighteen months ago when Hannes was in the states making his rounds to all the shows we invited him to Corpus Christi to meet with a group of friends and customers interested in booking a safari. Hannes came to Corpus Christi and our safari was booked for September 07 and it was here before we knew it.

Main gate to Limcroma Safaris

The main lodge

Private cabanas

This is where we had breakfast, lunch and dinner unless we took a packed lunch.

Our safari truck

I booked a 2x1 so this was my view for a good part of the trip while waiting for my turn to shoot.
Keith and PH Eric

Not sure how we decided who went first but Keith won.
Keith with his 24" Impala taken at 30 yards.

My Impala taken at 225 yards.

Wow, the Steenbok were tough to spot.

My first Steenbok was a monster but the Jackels got to him before we could. This is all we found, no head.

My second Steenbok

Hunting Bushbuck on the Croc river.

A Croc waiting for a Bushbuck lunch. We watched this Croc and Bushbuck doe for about an hour while she paced up and down the bank but, never got close enough for the Croc.

Find the Bushbuck.

Hannes's 19" Bushbuck hanging in the lodge.Yes it is a little over 19.

The Limcroma van used to pick us up and drop us off at the airport.

Headed home

I will add more later.

We all had a great time and we are already working on our next trip to Limcorma.

I hunted with just about every PH Hannes has and their are two Erics I hunted with both of them.

Yes Eric S. still has the beard.

John, I hunted in that same area with Bobby Hansen Safaris in August/Sept of '06. Went on to Zim after that for DG. I remember seeing that entry gate one day. I loved the area. I took a nice 15" bushbuck along the Croc River myself.

I'm sure you all had a great time.
