Operator: Martin Pieters Safaris
Region: Omay North hunting concession
Camp: Umi
PHes: Pierre Hundenmark and Michael Blignaut
hunters: Vadim (one of the best friends of mine) and me;
Duration - 14 full hunting days.

It was the my 4th safari in Africa and the 3rd conducted with Martin Pieters safaris. But this time I was more than guide rather than client so my trophy list is smaller Wink
First objectives for this safari were leopard and trophy elephant bull. Our 2 crews worked hard to make many perspective baits for leopard in different corners of our huge hunting territory.
And we achieved all planned goals and even more because of exceptional professionalism of Pierre and Michael and their crews.

Waiting for new safari with Martin,

Best regards,
Rinat

Looks like you and your friend had a very successful safari. I'm slightly surprised, I think that's the first PH I've seen carrying a gun with a *gasp* muzzlebreak!

Great pictures, congratulations on your safari. I cannot let you off so easy though . . . we need to know more about the take down bolt action rifle you were using, e.g., maker, caliber, etc. Looks like a lovely rifle.

Thank you,

Yes, Vadim has great takedown rifle based on Mauzer receiver in .416 RIGBY made by Johannsen.
My rifle is Sako75 in .375H&H Mag.

There are some more pics Wink

- our trophies at the skinning yard.
Compare the size of sculls: there is my hyena at the left, then - Vadim's leopard, then - baboon and lion obtained by another hunter:

- hyena size:

cartridge is .375 H&H

- buff vs Barnes TSX in .375:

Great report and photos!

Is that Farunga on the far right and Steve on the far left? That can't be Pierre in the middle.

Frank,
yes, it's Pierre with his crew + game scout Felix (the 2nd from the right).
Pierre likes such kind of final safari photos Wink
For example this one made in Oct 2014:

Manuel,
Ivory is about 60 lbs, I haven't trophy list from Zim taxidermy yet and don't know the exact weigh. It is very good for Omay, you are absolutely right.

Thanks Rinat, I have a group photo from my buffalo hunt with Pierre in 2011, he looks slimmer now. Big Grin

Well done Rinat. Congratulations.

I will say one thing about that place. It has the crocs. Lots of them.

Looks like a very successful safari. That's a fine elephant, especially for the Omay.

Already I was beginning to fall into the African way of thinking: That if
you properly respect what you are after, and shoot it cleanly and on
the animal's terrain, if you imprison in your mind all the wonder of the
day from sky to smell to breeze to flowers—then you have not merely
killed an animal. You have lent immortality to a beast you have killed
because you loved him and wanted him forever so that you could always
recapture the day - Robert Ruark

Good stuff!

Gentlemen,

Thank you for your comments,

Yes, there are many crocs there. I don't know what to do with such big trophy Wink so I never shot it.

Best regards,
Rinat
