I just finished an 18 day September 2015 safari with Safaris de Mozambique for Cape buffalo and sable antelope.

I will not be posting photos or comments here, but I'm available and happy to provide a full report with details regarding conditions, pricing, hunt quality, etc.

If interested, please PM me, and we can arrange a phone converstion.

Regards, AIU

Congrats on your hunt!

I fear we will see a slow death of this particular forum for obvious reasons...sad

What a shame that this thread has been downgraded by the comments of a few to the extent that seasoned, experienced hunters no longer feel comfortable posting reports of their experiences.
Many of us learn a great deal from the words and pictures of our peers.
Please reconsider your position on this for the benefit and enjoyment of the silent majority.

Whatever AR pays for publishing hunt reports with pictures, I double it!
Would love to see pics and a report....

I wonder if he had seen any Roan up that way as I thought they had a small quota?

Hunted there last July. One of our group was hunting Sable but didn't see any shootable bulls and only a few overall in 10 days. We were told they had no Roan on quota.

Yikes nothing mature to be seen in 10 days?? Thanks for filling in some of the gaps in this missing report and perhaps a warning of anyone looking to hunt Sable with them!

Great job, thanks!!

Guys,

Since we are all speculating perhaps July was early for sable as the grass may have been tall limiting visibility. I know for sure further south in Mozambique sable are nearly impossible until most of burning is done in August. Also last I knew there were no roan actually on quota in Mozambique although at least one established safari company I know of has offered them on their trophy fee list. I personally got caught up in this as I advertised for a very well known PH that was going to take up a concession in Mozambique. He assured me he had roan on quota and I did not check further. My bad! I think the PH didn't know either as he saw roan on his recce and assumed they would be available. No attempt to deceive on anyone's part.

Interesting theory Mark but it's not as if the hunter didn't see Sable, it's just that nothing was mature. I suppose if the op shared this same fate then we most certainly could put two and two togeather.

Ackley didn't want to post anything, which had a definite implication, but he didn't want to make it public. AR Man, you are stating things publicly that are hearsay, and were not meant to published by Ackley and are not in his words.

Heard a Hank Williams song on the radio this afternoon. "Mind your own Business" and if you do, you'll be busy all the time.

Lavaca, I was commenting on what happened with another persons hunt with the same outfitter. That person chimed in and offered their hunting experiences. I have not spoken on the behalf of Ackley but simply wondered if the same fate occurred with him? That's all,no harm intended and if something didn't workout well for that I would be sorry to hear.
