Actually, I lived continously in various Africa countries (Central Africa Republic, Burkina Faso, Djibouti and Madagascar) from 1977 to 1993. I now live in France but my job has me in Africa about one third of the year. I didn't decide to try hunting big game (I had previously done some wing shooting in the US, Argentina and in Europe) until recently and since I am at home in Africa it just seemed like the best place to hunt.

I did my first hunt in Africa, for plains game, in September of 2002 but just recently joined this forum. I hunted with Jan Dumon outside of Hoedspruit near Kruger National Park. He can be reached at mwshumba@mweb.co.za Jan was quite helpful in putting together a total package which fit my budget and his tracker Calvin has to be seen in action to be believed. The hunting is typical I believe for this region, done on very large fenced ranches which sometimes border on the Kruger. Jan also has a good reputation for getting leopard. I do not yet know how to place photographs into a post, but my trophies on this 8 day hunt were a greater kudu, a gnu, an impala, a warthog and a steenbok. I also took a jackal as a varmint. Jan put together a special package for a first time safari and I found the total cost quite reasonable. Since I completed my bag on the 7th day, we went to the Kruger on the 8th which was also quite enjoyable. I had my trophies prepared by Life Forms, not too far from Hoedspruit in fact, and the quality and service were very good. They aren't rapid however and I received my trophies approximately one year later.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum. If you could post additional information and perhaps photos of your hunt and trophies I would appreciate it.

Where can I find the instructions to post photographs in a post? A simple cut and paste doesn't seem to work.
