This is second hand. I've been told the manes aren't that great. Comparable to the Zembezi Valley. Their success rates are supposedly so/so as well. Please check with other sources though. I'd ask booking agents and PHs there like Johan.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

I have seen some nice lions coming out of Tete, however depending on area, hunting pressure, time, and population density this can change fast.
Depending on area and outfitter you have to make your decisions.

There a so many “ Operators” selling hunts in Tete just make sure you book with a legit operator.

Cheers

I worked with Piet Hougaard up on the Zambezi just across from Dande. Simon Rogers has that area now. Piet was 3 for 4 or 3 for 5 on his Lions each year. Quality was fair, with some having little mane and the occasional one having a decent mane.

Thanks, all. A guy I hunted with successfully in RSA is trying to sell me a hunt there. He has just hooked up with some locals, most likely. He has visited there but I don't think he has ever hunted there. The prices look pretty good, maybe too good.

Why all the "warnings"??

I thought that this was rather common for PH's from one country (eg SA, Zim, etc) "hook up" with "locals" from other countries (eg Tz, Moz, etc)and book hunts. The "visiting" ph's sure as hell don't own the concessions Cool

What makes us think this is not the same scenario being offered.

Take note of Freicheutz advice, there are not a lot of legal operators in Tete, I have been hearing names and concessions mentioned that I have never heard of in the last couple of weeks
