I used Barnes 150 grain TSX bullets all shot clean through, even on the Eland(shot through both shoulders). I was in South Africa near Douglas, went with Ingwe-safaris. PH and owner Lieb DuRaan. I went the the last week in April '08. Awesome trip, had a blast. Can't wait to go back! Everything was perfect from flight to guns, food, lodging, hunting, not one single complaint about anything. Heck, I was only in the SAPS office for thirty minutes(I filled out my form at home). Stayed at the Afton House, they were great.

It was in the title, 270 WSM Tikka T3 Lite with Brockman's muzzle brake.

Is that a T3 Tikka? I have one in .223, and am taking a M695 (the precursor) in .30-06 to Namibia next week.

Congrats on your successful hunt, I like the Gembok. I have a score to settle with a nice Gembok in the Limpopo, it really bothers me that I didn't come home with one last month, but I'll get one next year.

Just out of curiosity...Why did you get a muzzle brake put on your 270 WSM? I have one in Nosler,Model 48 custom, just over 6 lbs w/scope and loaded, and it hardly kicks (IMO).

Mine is also about 6 pounds, but it certainly kicks, way harder than my '06. I just like to be comfortable. I shoot a lot at the range and after a while I do start to notice it, which in turn might make me flinch, it makes me shoot better if I don't have to think about anything but hitting the target.

Congratulations on a super sounding safari, and on some very nice trophies. I feel bound to remark that your kudu is IMHO a real trophy - one with horn tips pointing to the outside. A nice one indeed! And a 50"er! Congrats agian.

Thanks a lot. I also felt the same about the Kudu, my PH said he was probably about 10-11 years old and he had broomed off about an inch of his horns, so last year he was probably a little bigger. But I couldn't be happier with him.

Congrats on your safari. What's next?

For getting a pass through on everything, you sure got them cleaned up nice for the photos. It looks like they laid down and went to sleep.

Ya really, not one drop of blood came out of the Eland, they did pack water to give the others a bath as needed.
What's next? Either Red Stag in New Zealand or Caribou in Canada.
