This is the second consecutive year I have hunted with Lochi Lochner of RSA. Lochi is PH/outfitter for the Limpopo and Free state provinces. If you want to have fun hunting, give contact Lochi and he will set you up. http://www.affordableafricanhunting.com/ We stayed and hunted primarily at the beautiful game ranch of Tom Laas in Roedtan, Limpopo. On this ranch you will find some some quality big game. Though the hunting is extremely challanging. Specically, there are tremendous eland, kudu, red hartebeest and impala. Also the blesbok are above average in my opinion. We saw a couple smaller nyala bulls, and though there have been exceptional bushbuck taken on the ranch, we did not see any and hunted them elsewhere. Also the accomidations and hospitality extended by Tom and his wife Delana to us was tops. http://sagro.co.za/go/bosveld/ Last year we had hunted some beautiful country NE of Alldays, but came up short on bushbuck and this year we were back at it, though in a competely different area. In all I took 4 impala, blue wildebeest, eland cow, warthog, and bushbuck. We also called preditors in the evening and my hunting partner shot 2 jackals. It was wonderful fun and though I didn't take any big trophies, I consider the hunt to be a complete success. I have a few more pictures to add from this years adventure. These are of hunting partners blue wildebeest and kudu. In the past I have spoke about my love affair with the 35 Whelen as a general purpose plains game rifle. Two instances in this hunt proved that this was justified. On the warthog the first shot too far back as the warthog trotted by. After following a very adequate blood trail for 75 yards I came upon the bugger and took a shot as he was trying to go straight away. The second shot took him in the right ham and the bullet was found in the skull. The second instace is when I shot the eland, the first shot went through some saplings before hitting the eland in the neck and dropping her, penetrating the neck and continuing on. I didn't realize the first was sufficent in the heat of the hunt so I got to 25 yards and put another into the brisket from straight on. The bullet came to rest under the skin over the left hind quarter after penetrating some 4.5 - 5 feet of eland inards, bone and muscle. Thank you Juan. Yes, once the client had done what he came for, it is fun for sure to spice up those last few days with varmint, especially calling small predators. I like it when my client drops a jackal off-hand on 10 yards at 3 seconds notice! It is normal practice for me to spend a quite Saturday night alone on some remote sheep farm talking to the jackals. I have only been to Argentina once but never had time to tango. Thanx for your “admiration of the Afrikaner peopleâ€. There are several of them living in Argentina. As the endangered species of Southern Africa, we take encouragement from support like that. Would like to meet you one day. Drop in for a beer at Joburg next time you visit here. Lochi.
