Don't want to "horn in" on our friend's hunt report, but the comments regarding the little guys got my juices going. My first African animal was this Kalahari Steenbok taken with a 300 Wby, 180gr Partition. He will be full body mounted in a custom coffee table. I too look forward to pursuing more of the little ones.

Funny how it goes on safari sometimes. Last year in Zim I was in a lather to get a buffalo for lion bait. We were tracking a pair of old bulls and saw a couple of klipspringer on a smallish rocky outcroping. One of the trackers pointed them out but I did not want to spook the buff. We finally lost the buff as they went beyond the boundries of the area we were hunting. The PH suggested that we try for the klipspringers. It was as easy as that, just bactracked to the rocks and there was the male standing in the open looking at us. I sat down and carefully put a 300gr solid in his chest. He wobbled and fell down. In the Solous in 2001 we were up to our ears in everything not on license, including diker. I remember asking the PH if we were lucky or they were really that common. He replied that they are named "common diker" but that he had never seen so meany shooting oppurtunities. Same for VERY large waterbuck, reedbuck, sable and eland. Saw any amount of lion and one leopard IN DAYLIGHT. Brett
