Went on a second trip to Bubye after losing my hunting partners trophies in the Bulawayo warehouse fire. Of the 200 clients Craig told me 60 percent of 38 Mazunga Safaris clients had returned. Keith Atcheson arranged for same rates as last time and Brent found time for us. My partner went with Ade Langley and again got some great buffalo, eland, kudu, and sable trophies and also other plains game. Apart from plains game Brent worked very hard at getting a great buffalo - 41". We looked at some 8 breeding herds and 13 Dhaka boy groups before getting very good one. Brent is also great at walking you upto elephants (twice this time),rhinos (black and white) and seeing lions close-we got out near two young males, a lioness that had killed a wildebeest right outside our camp at Fimbiri, and stopped watch three huge young three year old coalition roaming males. The lions in Bubye are particularly large since they come from 16 males that were captured in Etosha and brought to the conservancy. Etosha lions are about on average a quarter larger than SE Africa lions. Brenst still has one lion and two leopard hunts for 2015 and had 100 percent success on his leopards so far this year. If you also like to learn about birds and trees and do some photography, Brent and his tracker William are great at teaching and for angles. Took a Gibbs .505 and 30-378 with tsx and Goodleigh protected points and solids for buffalo. Buffalo was bowled over by 600 gr soft and paralyzed, legs in spasm in the air. 30-378 180 tsx immediately dropped all plains with single shot and no movement except a warthog shot from behind that needed a
second shot. Cold weather kept a lot of plains hidden in the bushes. Great place to go with eveything there although trophy elephants and rhino are not hunted, great views, excellent venison based on what is shot. Highly recommend.
