It is still unknown what type of bug bit me, but the general consensus is that it was a spider of some type.
I never new exactly when I was bit. I just noticed a small red place. They did not "flare up" until after I had been home for about 5 days.
I went to the doctors at the Nascar race and they gave me 80 Clindamycin HCL caps 150 MG. I took 2 every 6 hours.
Ian lives in Harare, Zim.
On my first Safari in June of 2004 he flew with me on the charter to the camp.
On my last hunt he rode to Vic Falls with the PH.
Many Safari companies do not charge any fee for a videographer. Brooklands did not charge me.
Ians fee is 250 to 300 a day depending on how long the hunt is.
It is the best money I have ever spent. He gets great footage, and his edit of the final video is very good.
He is also a great friend to have on a Safari, he is a great game spotter and a good tracker as well.

30ott6Thanks Tony for the response. If I were hunting in Zim this year I would sure consider talking to Ian!

30ott6One last question Tony. Do you think the red mark could be a monkey bite?

N E 450 No2I shot a couple of baboons, but I did not mess with any monkeys.

Question for you. Why did you have a soft point in your left barrel when you approached to 6 yds of the bull elephant?
465H&H
A mistype I figured. Clearly the man is not insane!

JPK, Thanks for the vote of confidence. It was a typo. I have edited the original post. I did have a 480 Woodleigh SOLID in the left bbl.

<BWN300MAG>Good job Tony,
Sounds like you had a blast. Congratulations on all your trophies. Good to hear you are going to get to go back to harass them later in the year. I cannot wait to see the pictures and hear the stories in person.
By the way, I have been on my best behavior since you left. I have not harassed one single cheating, stinking, lying Somali cabbie.

jorge450#2: Great, great report with concise details of the weapons used. Great data points. We'll all wait for the photos!. One question, regarding Quinn, can you tell me more about im please? Reason being, I hunted with John Sharp this past June and his apprentice PH's name was also Quinn (nickname of "Spanner") and he also videographed my buff hunt. Thanks, jorge

I think it might be the same Quinn.
Was he a skinny blonde haired guy, always smilling. Did he have a stainless steel 458 Lott?

jorge450: That's him. He's a great and hard working young man. Worked real hard for me on the trip, especially with my bushbuck and bushpig. He's just about done with his PH apprenticeship. We saw him in Dallas this past January, he was with John Sharp. Thanks! jorge

Tony,
Very good job on your story, you undoubtably have the worst case of "africanitis" possible, no chance of a recovery, glad you enjoyed your trip but I knew you would, any day hunting in Africa is a great day right?
One thing should be mentioned re your 9.3 success, you are not the average shooter with all your training you just don't miss. As an average shooter I will stick to my big bore and take all the latitude it gives me.
Looking forward to your pictures and video and Ian's trip with me next year.
Fred

TONY,
That was a great recap of your hunt!
Congratulations!!!!! I'm looking forward to the next DRSS hunt, to be able to hear more!

Tony...wish I had known you were in Houston on Monday...so was I. Went to Carter's and a few other shops and would have been nice to catch up with you. Sent you an email when I was in Dallas but may have gotten the address wrong. I was out on the road for 6 weeks and am just getting home.
So you didn't end up bringing the Freedom Arms .475 with you???
Glad you had a great hunt and are going back with Peg. She will have a great time....Bob

Sorry I missed you, I have been out of town.
Yes I took the 475. I planned on using it for cow elephants but since I didnot get to hunt in the Omay I did not use it.
I did test it on both elephants that I killed. I will probably take it in Oct as we plan to shoot several cow elephants in the Omay.
Doc, CFA Thanks.
