Shumba and D Hunter got it right on with their recipes. Their experience mirrors mine from a Ruger M77. I used the Trophy Bonded Bearclaw & Hornady Solid on a buff last month. The TBBC put him down with one shot within 50 ft and the Hornady Solid insurance shot was a complete penetration. Call me what you will but I don't like the Barnex. I've seen too many failures with that bullet to ever shoot them when there is any other alternative. Had a fellow in camp shoot an eland 7 times with the .338 Barnex. 4 Bullets recovered, one complete failure to expand and 2 tumbles due to petals peeling. Not my idea of a hunting bullet although I'll admit their marketing is out of this world. | ||
