Terrific photos. Those memories are worth all the sweat and treasure expended. The Okavango is a magical place and I wish all hunters have the opportunity to experience it. Unfortunately that opportunity is fading fast.

Thank you Kathi for taking the time to post your adventure.

The ivory is great, but that last photo of Rick and the trackers crossing the waist-high water is absolutely stellar.

Kathi-
Thanks for the photos, we've been waiting!
That last picture is a real keeper, it needs to be on the cover of a magazine. It looks like a dream fulfilled.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Great elephant and some excellent photos! Thanks for keeping us in the loop on your hunt in Bots. I will echo others sentiments in losing this fantastic game-rich area to hunting. I hope the government of the country realizes their error sooner rather than too late!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.
