Just returned from 7 day plains game safari.
June 7-17, 2016 with Conerad Vermaak Safaris.
PHs Clive Curtis and Darren Baker were in the classic mode. More than competent, friendly eager to put the hunter on quality animals and successful in doing so. Trackers were amazing. We had to animals that needed tracking after the shot, no problem. The accommodations first rate, the food outstanding the staff friendly and efficient. Our group of three hunters took all the animals we traveled so far to hunt. Three nice Kudu including the 55+" pictured, 3 Oryx, 2 Eland, 2 Wildebeest, 1 hartebeest. 3 Zebra, and 2 warthogs.
We shot out by the fourth days and spent the rest of the time shooting photos of all the big five. We flew Emirates to Dubai for a ay and a night, then to Joburg for a day and night at African Sky another outstanding venue. Ready to go back.

Congrats on your trip and the beautiful kudu. Looks like you mastered the art of shooting off sticks just fine! Sorry we never made it out to Bayou Rifles. If I dropped the ball, my apologies. The delay in my trip to Burkina did not help for sure. Congrats again!

Thanks. No propblem, Lavaca hosted me at BR . Gave me a couple of sorely needed pointers. Bit awkward at first. Worked out fine. Thanks for the offer. Hope our paths cross down the road.

Frank:
It actually took 6 days to finish one of our party was dead set on taking an Eland. He passed on 6 or 7 and took great bull on day 6. While the rest of us lolly gagged around. We had a non-hunter in our group of 4.
I failed to mention we wrapped up with 3 days of bird shooting. 6 hours south of the Khamab.

Yes that is the property.

They take some really good buffalo and lion there if I am not mistaken?

I believe they take only 5 or 6 buffalo a year.
They are not hunting lions yet.

We saw all of the above. They have several herds of buffalo we saw one heard of about 80. We drove as much as two hours from the lodge on most days and saw white and black rhino in several places. The same with lions. I am certainly no expert, but we covered a lot of ground and 240,000 acres can conceal a lot of animals. I really don't know how to answer as far as numbers are concerned other than the buffalo. We didn't see rhinos and lions everyday but we saw plenty of tracks.

A serious kudu bull to be sure.

Beautiful kudu. Heading to Namibia in October. Can't wait.

The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.
