We are back and had a fantastic hunt with Numzaan Safaris. We started in the Free State the day of our arrival with Springbok and Blesbok. The next day we headed north to Koedeskop, Limpopo Province to the main camp and took a nice 36" gemsbok bull that evening just before dark. Camp was clean comfortable and the food was excellent. Day 3 we had a lucky morning and took a beautifully marked impala, nicely maned zebra stallion, and a 29 1/2" blue wildebeest. The next day my wife decided to give it a try and they lent her an old savage340D in .222 Rem. to try for an impala. She was a trooper and took a nice impala with heavy horns with 1 shot at 50 yards, I was very proud of her. The next 2 days were spent ina frustrating attempt at kudu. The following day we took a warthog that we spotted from atop a kopje and climbed down to stalk. We hunted the next few days up at silent valley near the Botswana border which meant 4:15 AM coffee and lunch from the cooler. We managed a kudu with a very wide spread, 40" between tips. The next day was the best hunting from my standpoint. We twice tried to stalk a herd of eland for a big bull we saw cross the road with them, spending an hour once very close trying to get a shot. Later with 5 minutes of light left we got a huge old solitary bull with a beautiful dark mat of hair on his forehead. Last day we relaxed and did some bird hunting in the afternoon. What a great vacation, my wife wants to go back as much as I do. If you are thinking about it or put it off before, JUST GO. My PH was Johann Combrink. I hunted with Stef a couple years ago outside of Thabazimbi. Had a good hunt. We were after eland and kudu and did very well. I took 2 impala, warthog, waterbuck, blue wildebeest, kudu (52 inch), eland (37 inch) and shot a bunch of francolin and guinea fowl.

My father took an impala, kudu, eland, waterbuck, ostrich and blue wildebeest. Stef has good areas and takes good quality game.

I'd hunt with him again.

I've hunted with NumZaan on two occassions, and my experience pretty much mirrors yours. Stef ran a first class operation, and I will hunt with him again.

One of my crew leaders hunted with NumZaan in 2003, and Johann was his PH. I never met Johann, but my crew leader had great things to say about him.

Welcome back and congratulations on a great adventure! I hunted with Stef and the gang in 2001 and had an excellent safari as well. That said I am considering rebooking and will contact Numzaan promptly to request the same 'cruiser driver you had! Glad you had an exciting trip and your eland is a fantastic trophy!
