Why I write hunt reports

They are my damn backup on the internet. Free cloud service thanks to Saeed. Same reason why I post pictures on Facebook.

I did not backup my iphone after my Alaska trip. Phone died and had to be reset and 2 days later swapped into a new Iphone 6.

The reset wiped out all my photos and videos.

My uploads to photobucket (for AR posts) and AR saved some pictures.

A very narrow shallow reason to post hunt reports. I really don't care if people like or dislike my hunt reports as long as my pictures are safe.

Mike

PS - Biebs don't worry all your pictures were taken with the DSLR are saved.

Good enough reason as any mate tu2

------------------------------
A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Isn't the whole purpose of an open forum to share our experiences with fellow hunters from all over the world??

In the old days, we used to wait for months - sometimes years, for someone to write about his adventure in some exotic land.

Now, we have the luxury of live reports with photos to boot!

I just like sharing an activity that supposedly the majority of us on sites like AR have in common.

I like reading about other peoples hunts and experiences.

A love or passion for hunting/fishing, even though it is at different levels and in different lands, whether it is as mundane as shooting feral hogs or does here in Texas or Cape Buffalo in Africa or Marco Polo sheep, it is all hunting and it is something we all enjoy.

If I can't be out hunting myself, on here I can at least read about someone else's adventures.

Even the rocks don't last forever.

I post the reports because it is fun and because I feel a level of responsibility to do so when I glean some much info here from other hunters reports. I have no issues doing it.

I have non-hunting, non-member friends that can see our trips, thanks to Don and Saeed. (Nobody cares about my little adventures and I only look at pictures myself.)

Try downloading dropbox.

+1

I would most likely not hunt with an outfitter/PH who does not have a hunt report on AR.

At least for me there is $$ (my hard earned after tax $$) tied to outfitters with AR hunt reports.

I have google drive and some other high end cloud storage space. I need to get rid of the high end storage space - google, microsoft and amazon provide exceptional cloud storage that is very cheap.

But I need to back up stuff of phones ect. When I am done with my hunt - I normally post some pictures on AR. My posting of pictures is more consistent that my backing up off stuff - I need to be better at backing up.

I am disappointed I had some excellent flying footage from Alaska on my iphone.

I like sharing my experience. I know some will not agree with where I hunted, what I took, choice of rifle, etc, etc, but I am always hopeful that someone will enjoy them. I also hope that someone out there that thinks they can't afford it will see that there are less expensive hunts to be had. My last hunt was suppose to be for Cape Buffalo, but I decided that I could die while saving up so what the heck I might as well enjoy another plains game hunt.

Thank you Saeed for making this platform available to us to share out hunts and read about others. Thank you also for sharing your hunts with us.

+1 with fairgame and Dropbox. Download it to your i phone and simply set it to upload all your pics to your computer as and when you take them.jc

Gentlemen,

My advice is to make sure you have backup of all your precious photos at home.

A couple of portable hard disks do not cost that much, and are an infinitely better insurance against loosing them.

As a lurker and one who will never have the chance to hunt many of these places or species it is nice to read the reports and see the pictures.

Please keep them coming. Can you see too many pictures of our world? And, hunting stories?
