We will be going to Okanduka Seibe in early June. I do not know of any agent or booking agency that books hunts for Dirk Rohrman, the PH at Okanduka Seibe. I suggest contacting him directly at the websites previously posted. Wish us luck as we will be there for 2 weeks and I hope to shoot straight. Jerry Hoover

scruffy,

There is no agent for Okanduka Seibe. We booked our safari through Dirk (the PH). I just recieved an e-mail from Dirk 2 weeks ago explaining that this is his last year hunting on Okanduka Seibe. He and his brothers-in-law are merging their safari businesses into one and they will be operating under Omalanga Safaris. We are hunting with Dirk in 2008 for 21 days at his 2 new concessions. One is called the Mopane Camp which is 175,000 acres located next to Etosha National Park. The other is called the Oryx Camp which is 77,500 These new properties appear to be even better than Okanduka Seibe. This will be our first African trip and I am very excited, to say the least! From my dealings with Dirk, I would have to say that he is extremely honest and trustworthy. I would definitely reccomend him. Good luck.

My brother, nephew, and son are also booked with Dirk in the first 2 weeks in June 2008 on his new concession NW of Waterburg National park. He and Rita handled all the bookings directly and I have never worked with anyone easier or more accomadating on booking a hunt. Talked with him a long time in Reno and ended up having a friend talk with him as well. The friend is booked in fall 2008 for a leopard. Again, direct booking and my friend who has hunted Africa 2-3 times in the past echoed my feelings about his dealings with the Rohrmann's on booking the hunt.

Hope it works for you.

That is great news. I hadn't heard that. I just emailed Dirk and Rita to ask about a 2008 date. When are you going?

Just contact him thru the website and keep in mind that he is in "full seasonal mode". If you don't get an answer right away don't become impatient. He and Rita are extremely busy. I hunted with him last Sept and had a fantastic visit and hunt.

almostacowboy,

My family (both parents) and I are going to be with Dirk from July 14, 2008 - August 6, 2008. We're going to tour Etosha for 2 days and hunt for 21 days (11 days at the Mopane Camp and 10 days at the Oryx Camp). I don't know how I'm going to wait another whole year. Mad

That's an excellent itenerary. You'll love hunting with Dirk, and the trackers, Jeffery and Manuel. Of course, there may (probably) be an etirely new crew at the new camps.
If you liked Rita at the show, wait until you sit at her dinner table! Some of the best (and MOST) food we ever had. They are both very special people.

Is the email address still the same? Haven't heard from Dirk and Rita for a while.

Thanks,

Allow me to interject. Dirk has been hunting off O.S. since the fires at an uncle's place northwest of O. Seibe. So, I'm assuming, that would account for part of the delay in answering e-mails (mine included).

Dirk
Has been hunting up north near Etohsa for the last two week with some of my friends. Their hunt should be ending in a few days.

I'm sort of curious ... Confused if a person had booked a hunt at Okanduka Seibe for 2008 ... and the resident PH moves to another area ... is it ethical (and fair to the land owner) to get clients who have sent deposits - to go somewhere else ???

My wife and I will be back with Dirk and Rita in Namibia next summer.

Only 13 more months.

Outfitters change areas quite often, ( It' my guess ) Dirk is trying to stay one step ahead of government land redistribution in his area. Make no mistake this is a great news for everyone! Dirk's new partnership means he can offer a wider range of animals and his hunt areas are truly huge. ( The Oryx camp alone is 175.000 acres) You now have the option of stay in in a first class lodge with a pool of a tent camp in the bush next to Etosha park. I really can't see any problems. If you are worried please talk to Dirk he is a honest man.

Relax, Scruff. The areas Dirk's moving to will be at least as good if not better than Okanduka Seibe. The fires over Christmas and New Year's completely wiped out all the grass in area in and around O.S. and the rains never came. The game, or ANY game surviving probably wouldn't be worth hunting, except to put them out of their misery. 2nd, the new areas up near Etosha have fantastic game. I spent a week there NOT hunting last year. The amount of game we saw -from the road - was incredible. 3rd, Dirk isn't going to take you somewhere you wouldn't want to go yourself.
OBTW - I'm penciled in for April 14-21.

Scruffy! it's been some time, but I am back old friend.
Hunting on and around Okanduka will continue as always, with or without Dirk.
The fires did not wipe out all of the grass and natural game like, Kudu, Oryx, Zebra, Warthog, Steenbuck, Duiker etc. are still there.
Clients who wish to hunt with Dirk are more than welcome to do so and those who wish to hunt on Okanduka will be guided by myself. The species which are not available on Okanduka will be hunted in my other concessions.
I am excited to hunt Okanduka again and pleased to say that I will make it my home this time.

Yo, Helgaard ! I was just thinking of you yesterday. A few years back you took Iceman and I on a 14 day leopard hunt down near Okahandja ... Bill got a leopard on the 7th day ... later on that very evening we spotted a leopard laying on a trail and I shot it ... it leaped straight up and tore off into the bush .. Well, I went to see it at the taxidermist's yesterday (Between hunting trips and taxidermy and buying soup for supper I am always way behind ... ) and the chap mounted it as I had requested. Leaping in the air .. one back foot on an elevated artificial rock ... It was so dramatic (and I must admit that I walked into the studio looking for it) that I failed to see the full mount of a Perry caribou in front of it !!! Trivia aside, you and your lady are two of my favorite people in the world. Good luck ! thumb
