Hooray!!! Got an email today that our trophies will be on their way to the States on the 30th. SAA Flight 203 should be carrying skulls capes and a few hides for our two Cape buffalo, two kudu, two impala, a blue wildebeest and a warthog. If schedules are to be believed, should arrive at around 7:40AM on the 31st into the capable hands of F&F at JFK. Pretty much on schedule - pop and I took them the first two weeks of September and here we are 6 months later as expected. Exciting! You're not getting anxious are you? Mine are supposed to ship at the end of April and can't wait. We hunted the last week of September/first week of October, so the timing seems to be about the same. How long did they say it will take to get to you after getting to F&F?

Anxious? Not a bit It has been so long since I spoke with them I can't remember but I plan on calling F&F today to find out. I'll post it here when I know. Congrats. We can't wait to see pics of them in the trophy room! I was wondering, who are you using as the importer. My taxidermist want's me to go through Fauna and Flora and the PH want's me to go through someone in Chicago. I'm still confused about most of this safari stuff. ----------------------------------------------------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be just like him. I am using Fauna and Flora. In fact, I am about to give them a call to get some information such as their fee. They tell me the average is about 7-10 days before it goes from them to taxidermist. I'll let you know once I have some info. I have been waiting for my trophies for some time now. I got notice in November that they were being shipped and that Flora and Fauna was in charge of it. I was never asked who and how to ship them until they were on the "BOAT". I assume they picked the less expensive method of shipment but I wasn't consulted until it was to late,,,, another lesson learned. I, after another email to Flora and Fauna have been given the date of April 14th for the arrival in New York. I hope they are correct this time,,, The delivery date keeps getting streched out along with my patience. The Taxidermy work was at Reiser in Windhouk...IFN logistics did the handling over there. When I got notice they were ready to be shipped is was almost the holidays and they closed for the holidays and by the time they re-opened they were on a "SLOW" boat from Africa. Patience may be a virtue,,, but a august 2008 set of animals,, I am ready to have them delivered.. you can make more money, you can not make more time

WOW, that is terrible! Sorry that your wait has been so ridiculously long. When I spoke with the F&F rep this morning, I was told that they couldnt give me an estimate on the cost of their handling despite my detailed description of the trophies coming over and where they would go from F&F. Couldnt even give me a "ball park" figure. I'll post my experiences. paul NRA Lifer; DSC Lifer; SCI member; DRSS; AR member since November 9 2003 Don't Save the best for last, the smile for later or the "Thanks" for tomorow

I've dealt with Fauna & Flora many times and always first rate. The problem I have is with the shipping companies used from Africa, especially Zimbabwe, but that was set up by the hunting company. I completed my hunt in Zim on August 2008 and still no trophies. They now sit at the shipper, Maple Freight since last fall. Supposed to have shipped several times, but no go. Very frustrating and no one seems to be able to help. I was originally told that all was good, except another persons CITIES permit had expired, so stopped entire freight container! Now, I've been told that new regs by the USF&W has it stopped again! What to do????

I got an invoice yesterday from Fauna and Flora, apparently my trophies have arrived and for the mere sum of 2600.00 dollars they will ship them or I can start paying storage fees by May 1st...The check is in the mail,,, I am ready to see what is in "the box" and what kind of shape they are in. I will update upon arrival... you can make more money, you can not make more time

drwes, Can you expand on exactly what $2600 has bought you? I would assume this includes the shipping cost by boat to NY. Also the costs of F&F fees etc. Thanks, Graybird "Make no mistake, it's not revenge he's after ... it's the reckoning."

drwes, My shipment must be on the same boat with yours, F&F said April 15 for me, but I doubt there are 2 boats. I also have been waiting since before the holidays, Trophaendienste had them ready for IFN in December but there were "hold-ups" of un-specified nature. graybird, F&F ball-parked me $3,500 for a fully mounted lion, fully mounted leopard, and 10 skull mounts. The total invoice I rcvd this past week was $3,013. That includes: Customs- $444. ISF 10+2 filing fee- 25. Ocean freight- $2,064. Cartage- $45. Inland freight (I need to verify that's to my home in PA) $327. FedEx- $5. Terminal handling- $46. US F&W- $56. Hope that helps, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it come in under bid from F&F. Waiting to see if there are any surprises in the crate or extra bills. Chris

Got my invoice last week as well and was about $1,100 (don't have it in front of me). Similar break down - except mine came by air and I paid that seperately. I'll be calling them again tomorrow to get further explanation. OK here is my breakdown (again I paid for air freight separately): Customs Entry Service Fee: $300 Break Bulk Service: $108.08 Special Messenger Service: $25 Inland Freight (from F&F to tannery in PA): $514.37 Reforwarding Services: $49.36 Terminal Handling: $40 Carriers Certificate/ISC $35.00 My taxidermist - Paul Bacskoczky will pick everything up from the tannery himself and get to work on the mounts from there. I'll be asking paul Nevadomski - Sr. Import Agent for Fauna and Flora what all of those terms mean and post his explanations here for those like me who have no real idea. Getting closer and closer to having to tell my wife where I or the trophies will be hung. I was just notified by Fauna and Flora that when customs inspected my shipment,, they found a pair of "raw" or untreated wart hog tusks in my shipment and now my shipment can only be released to a USDA certified taxidermist. The entire shipment is being held and they just can't discard the tusks. I am not sure what the loose pair of tusks were doing in the shipment anyway,, I have a wart hog skull on a shield that was "ok". Now, the entire shipment is stuck until I get it shipped to an approved center,,, of course at an additional cost....This is getting really old now. you can make more money, you can not make more time

I picked up my crate last Friday. I hunted with Buzz the first week of November 09. Andy Hunter handled the paperwork. I only shipped a buff and bushbuck- Coppersmith charged me $425 (I picked the crate up at their ATL warehouse). I believe the air freight bill was around $1100 and weighed around 75 kilos.
