The elephants were just starting to come in as I left. We saw several groups of cows and a couple of small bulls. As far as the poaching goes, yes, they have some of it there and it appears to be active. Luke and the gov. have patrols out everyday and they are doing their best, but it is a biiiig concession. They caught a group of 12 that had bicycles while we were there. I know that I would not want to be a poacher and get caught by the patrols that we saw. The tetsi flys are as bad as you remember alsossss..kd

The weather was pretty hot during the daylight hours, it got around 90 in the heat of the day, and nothing seemed to be moving, we usually sat it out by a waterhole, but by the time your trip comes, it will be hot. Seems like you can not find a pair of ankle boots that dont retain toooo much heat, make sure they are ventilated, I think I may try high top tennies next time. Heat in the tent was unbearable during the afternoon, good reason to stay outside looking around...

Nice that you have provided a glint into your safari.
A report and pictures would be nice.

When i was there in 2010 in November i saw more elephants than anything else. I also hunted in the Selous and on the Rufigi.

We would stumble into groups of elephants daily while out looking for Cape Buffalo. closes one was a cow about 20 yards away and then it calf showed up and we scattered as we were being eyeballed.
