Ladis and Gentlemen, We have just returned from our second hunt with my friend Pierre van Tonder. We were a party of nine people, so you can imagine the logistics of keeping such a large group of hunters happy. Well, Annalei, Pierre's wife, made sure our stay in her camp knocks spots off any 5 star hotel I have ever stayed in. We went mainly for buffalo, and if any of the other major game animals presented themselves, we would take. We shot 15 buffalo between us, and several plains game such as watrhog, impala, black wildebeest and kongoni. As well as a crocodile and one hippo. We were not successful with either lion or leopard, although we saw some lionesses and young males almost every day. We saw one leopard. As usual, my friend Ray Atkinson arranged this hunt for us, and he kindly joined us too. Other members of the gang were Roy Vincent, my old friend with whom I have hunted many times in Zimbabwe. His son Alan, who is a PH himself, but came along to be our video camera man. And as usual, he did a grand job of it too. Walter does not need any introduction to any of our regulars here, suffice to say he managed to alienate everyone in the camp, including us, within two days of arrival. He had no friends left after that. I am sorry to say that the brunt of his tricks had to be suffered by Pierre. Todd Kindler, whome we call Mr Small Caliber, as he the most knowledgeable man on these that I know. Dwight Scott, who is a champion bench rest shooter and a master gunsmith. We had a shoot for our camp staff to finish the ammo we had left, and we named the shoot in his honor; TEH DWIGHT SCOTT SELOUS CLASSIC BENCH REST SHOOT. I bet no one has ever had a bench rest shoot like that before. A great and very enjoyable time was had by all. Highly recommended. | ||
