Just a note... Turned out to be quite a HS grad present. The safari was beyond our wildest expectations. Northern Province, near the Limpopo River. Mark, my son, took a Kudu, Impala, Warthog, Blue Wildebeest, Zebra Stallion and a Big Male Baboon, all except the Impala were one-shot kills with a Ruger M77 in 300WSM. One-shot meaning got to the animal after it was hit and it was dead. The Impala was hit a bit far back and required a 2nd shot. The Kudu was neck/spine shot and dropped in its tracks at 280 yards. Warthog got about 100 ft. and dropped over dead. The Blue Wildebeest about 40 yds. The Zebra about 100 yds. in thick cover, found it within 5 minutes dead. The baboon he shot as it ran, offhand at 285 yds. from a small mountain, TX heart shot. That 300WSM is a real shooter. I got my Limpopo Bushbuck and a dandy Impala, both with one shot. Will post pics soon. | ||

What a dad to have! Let's get some more details and photos please. Don't praise the WSM too much, it is your son who did his part and let the bullet hit at the right place! Praise him, and pat yourself on the back for teaching him to shoot well?? I would in particular like the details of how you lined up the impala and the bushbuck to get "both with one shot"?
