I bought a donated hunt by Dumukwa Safaris at my RMEF chapter banquet.
I talked my neighbor there with me into splitting the cost and going with me. It would be his first safari and my 5th.
We left on Apr. 15 and returned to D/FW on the 29th.
The flights were business class with Emirates via Dubai then to Joburg and South African Air Link to Polokwane. Our PH/Host Bertus Gerhardt met us there and it was a 2 hour trip in his VW van to the super lodge right on the Lipopo River. There was me, neighbor and his wife. My wife was to go too but decided to fall in our garage 4 days before departure and broke her right shoulder.
The RMEF donation was for 2 hunters on 1 PH for 10 days and 4 named animals.
Kathi Klimes of Wild Travel got us all the air tickets, gun permits, lodging and a wonderful meet and greet lady Adele Rensburg.
At no time was there one hitch in the whole trip thanks to these two ladies and when we got to Dumukwa Lodge I can say the same thing about the lodging, the hunting equipment, the staff, food and the game we shot.
In other words: Thanks to Kathi, Adele and Bertus and staff the whole safari was a no problem safari from start to finish.
It may be longer to go to Dubai with Emirate that to Atlanta / Joburg with Delta but our Emirates air was thousands of dollars cheaper and Emirates leaves no stone unturned when it comes to service on that 777-300.
We stayed overnight at the City Lodge on the airport grounds upon arrival at Joburg. Adele was there to make sure we were ok and made sure all was well with hotel that night and got us back thru all the "stuff" the next morning. There was no loading of gear nor traveling to another location by auto etc.
I stayed at the African Skies in 2012 an all was great however the City Lodge was a brief walk to and from whatever we needed IN the airport. I see no reason to leave the airport grounds. My room was very nice and buffet breakfast the next morning was unbelievable.
Thanks to Kathi, Adele, Bertus and two trackers named Patrick and Willie it was on super safari.
Thank you all.
I know who gets my future business.

You can borrow money but you can not borrow time. Go hunting with your family.
