The paperwork for Fish & Wildlife is straight forward enough, but their website is lacking. fortunately they have a fantastic staff manning the help desk, and I got through it all with relatively little pain. Safari cargo was the shipper, and they booked in on a Delta flight to Newark thru Atlanta. My shipment got bumped 9 times, for unknown reasons then finally made it to Atlanta yesterday morning. (completed txidermy) Today on Delta's freight website it says "Customs Status: 3/27/2013 2H(APHIS HOLD)" I looked up the code 2H and depending on what list you look at it means different things... One list says "impound at delivery site" which would be Newark and another list says impound at port of entry, so I don't know what to make of it.. Anyone have any experience with these guys? I'm clearing through Newark NOT JFK. Heard bad things about the folks at JFK NRA Benefactor. Life is tough... It's even tougher when you're stupid... John Wayne

Try to contact "post driver" he clears all his own shipments. If you're not close to the airport I wouldn't recommend it. Jerry Huffaker State, National and World Champion Taxidermist

The APHIS hold was lifted and it found its way from Atlanta to JFK now, YOUR NOT GONNA BELIEVE THIS, it is scheduled on a flight from JFK to NEWARK... THAT'S 9 MILES AWAY!!! UNBELIEVABLE. YES, I am about 1.5 hrs away from the airport..... NRA Benefactor. Life is tough... It's even tougher when you're stupid... John Wayne

okay, so they made that long 9 mile flight from JFK to Newark around midnight last night, and I got an email this morning to come get my stuff. It seems that USDA already examined it in Atlanta, and I already have my completed and approved paperwork for FWS, so I'm off Friday to go get it... I'll let you know how it works out' NRA Benefactor. Life is tough... It's even tougher when you're stupid... John Wayne

Frank was wondering if Newark is an approved site for shipments. USF&W is based in NYC. That is the location where approval has to be received possibly. But then again if Fauna and Flora collected your shipment. You only would have to drive to Jamica early in the morning and be out of NYC by 9am. I did it twice. Mike

Hi guys, YES Newark is an approved FWS incoming port. We got up there around 2:30 last Friday. Went to Newark Fish & Wildlife, they looked at paperwork and said you don't need to come here anymore and sent us to Delta Air Cargo. Went to Delta Air Cargo, only one girl on counter (but she was hot) finally looked at my paperwork, sent me off to customs, said you need to go there first. Found customs, grumpy (but efficient)customs guy spent about 5 min typing into computer then stamped my paperwork and sent me back to Delta Air Cargo. Back at Delta Air Cargo, hottie behind counter recognizes me, collects $40 port fee from me, inspects and stamps paperwork and assigns me to a pick-up door (for the trophies, that is) We were on our way home by 4PM, so an hour and a half total. The biggest problem was finding our way around the port. The signage is lacking so get GPS addresses before you go. That would have saved us a half hour at least. So even with gas and tolls, I figured it save me just over $337 to clear it myself. The FWS EDECS program made it easier than it used to be (or so i'm told) and the people in Newark are actually HELPFUL as opposed to the people at JFK (jamacia) who seem to enjoy giving non-New Yorkers a hard time.. Now if I had a crate full of Cites critters, (i did have a hog) primates, Leopard and such I WOULD NOT HAVE TRIED TO CLEAR IT MYSELF. Likewise, the rules have changes for importing raw hides as only an import licensed taxidermist or state veterinarian is allowed to open the crate. So if your importing completed taxidermy, have at it! It's not that hard! If I figured it out, i know most of you guys can... But if you need help, PM me, I'll be glad to help. Frank NRA Benefactor. Frank- Glad to hear you were able to clear stuff yourself. You can also clear trophies at BWI in Baltimore. I have cleared 7 shipments for myself and friends over the last few years and its easy. Ample parking and customs and USFWS are right down the hall from each other. Congrats on getting your trophies and saving some money. The danger of civilization, of course, is that you will piss away your life on nonsense
