Just back yesterday from my 30+ day trip to Mozambique. Took a Cape Buffalo, and numerous other smaller critters. New R8 Blaser in 9.3 X 62 performed flawlessly, eight rounds fired, eight critters DRT. Great time as usual. "That's All Folks" as the old cartoon says.

It's well documented that I don't do detailed "hunt reports" here for obvious reasons. Nor do I post pictures. Hey, just my thing.

I will add that my annual 30 day trip to Mozambique is not primarily "hunting" motivated or based. I go there to enjoy Mother Africa, visit my many friends in the operation, take lots of photos, in other words just ENJOY.

I usually try and hunt/take a Buff and help out with collecting Leopard and Lion bait if needed. Some of the days are filled with checking baits for other clients, as I have my own little cruiser, available if I want.

So it's not a "quality not quantity" thing nor exercising any kind of restraint just hanging out, having a ball, and getting up each day with no "have to" plan and going with what the day brings. As a side note, I have taken, several Buff, Leopard, Sable, Hippo, Croc, Eland, Bushbuck, Warthog and lots of small stuff here on previous occasions, so that's off the table now. Have a great day!!

Sounds like a good gig you have going there, Larry! I wouldn't mind doing something like that myself some day!

Larry

Congratulations with your hunt. I presume the "Buf" was also harvested with your 9.3x62. Please elaborate on velocity the actual round fired and penetration.

Thanks in advance

Anton - Yes my Buff was taken with my R8 Blaser in 9.3 x 62. The shot was 80 meters, basically broadside. I used a 286 Barnes TSX over 53.5 grains of Varget powder. Didn't crono the loads so suspect around 2,200 + FPS. The shot went through the right front shoulder, through the heart and out the otherside, for total penetration. The Buff took 4 or 5 steps and was stone dead, no bellow or anything. This is the third Buff taken with this combo. Thanks for asking and hope this helps.

Hi Larry, sounds like you had a great time.

I was thinking about you the other day and was wondering when you would return, to New Mexico.

If you are coming down to Albuquerque, give us a call and we should be able to meet up with you.

James

Thanks Larry

People often talk the 9.3 down, however it has proven itself over and over again. Living in R.S.A. it is my dream to shoot a big old "dagha boy" before I lay down my head.

My 9.3 has accounted for a big bull giraffe.

Once again thanks for the report back. I appreciate.
