As most of you know my first border hunt was pretty much a cluster. This one was quite different.

Area: Tsholotsho South (campfire area)
Company Lodzi Hunters (Thys De Vries)
PH Len Taylor
Friend and photo guy: Billy
6 day hunt

Purchased this hunt through another partner in this company Jacques Hartzenberg. I have know Jacques for several years now and trust his advice. From the time he told me about it and I was on the ground in Zim 12 days.

Camp was the nicest bush camp I have ever been in and I have been in quite a few. As you can see in the pic's. They just got this area 3 months ago i would love to see it in 6 months. Planning on putting in a swimming pool.

Border hunts are border hunts you look for tracks out of the park and follow. The big difference here, is some of the elephants stay in the hunting area.

Day two, Got on a track about 4:30 pm one afternoon, quickly got on the 5 bulls 4 of them turned toward the park the biggest one came our way.
Len said I think we should shoot this bull, I did not even ask how big it was. later he told me he knew it was over 60 walking. Official weights 73 & 68. Len aged him by his teeth at 57-58 year old. Old Boy

Been Dreaming about a big bull for 6-7 years. Was truly a wonderful experence with Len and Lodzi. Len is one of the nicest guys to be around, I am sure he suffered with me.
I would love to hunt with them again but I think they are sold out for next year. With Bots closing, Zim elephant hunting is heating up. I highly recomemend this area and this company. Saw more elephant on the 1st day than I saw in 12 days at my last border hunt. Thys is a good guy, hard worker, runs an excellent camp and company. His wife Marilyn and son Christophe were a pleasure to be around.
Never seen a camp like this one in Zim. I want to go back again already.

On the last morning we got into 5 more bulls, turned down a 60 and a 55. Maybe a mistake to let them walk but I had my grand prize. I smiled all the way home in the center seat coach Smiler

Don't know how to post pic's but I can e-mail them if someone will post.

Great old bull with wonderful ivory.

Putting a branch in the ivory cavities for photos is an excellent idea.

Beautiful old bull. Well done.
