I just booked a hunt with Jumbo Moore in the Save Conservancy for early May. I met Jumbo at the Reno SCI meeting and was impressed with his wit and friendliness (which is more than I can say for most of the other PHs I met).

Anyone here ever hunted with Jumbo? It's too late to talk me out of a hunt (deposit made), but I would like to know what to expect.

I do not know jumbo moore, but I have hunted the save conservancy and it has fantastic plains game populations. Tell your taxidermist to get ready to handle a 57-60" kudu, a 28-30" waterbuck, and a 17-19" bushbuck.

I hunted with Jumbo in 1995, when he was still an appy. He's an entertaining guy and fun to hunt with. It was good to see him in Reno last week.

I have not hunted with Jumbo, but have met and talked with him on several occassions. I did hunt with his former partner, however, and they did not part company on great terms. As a result, I heard a few negative things, but nothing really substantial. Most of the comments were in the vein of being willing to do "anything" to make sure you got the game you were after. Some might call this a plus, but be sure you are not crossing any ethical lines that you have set for yourself. We all know that ethical standards vary by the individual and the locale. (Waterholes, night shooting, etc.) I chalked most of the comments up to the normal "business partner" relationship gone sour.
I have enjoyed my conversations with Jumbo, and know several people who hunted with him. You should be fine.
Bill
