/>The particulars are:
Burchell Frontier Safaris
Fred and Laura Burchell
Trudia game farm, 30 miles south of Etosha Park, for 5 days then, Daweb game farm, east of Keetmanshoop, Namibia for 4 days.
I took representative trophys of Gemsbok, Warthog, Steinbok, Red Hartebeeste, Springbok, Burchell's Zebra
Above is a snapshot of my 55" kudu. Fred called it 'enormous'. I wouldn't know as I have nothing to compare it with. I was also lucky to manage a six foot shot to dispatch a cape cobra.
Everything was taken with my Remington 700, 338-06AI, 225 Barnes X molycoated, H414 powder, except for the six Springbok, which were taken with my Colt/Sauer 25-06Rem, 85 Barnes X, molycoated, AA MagPro powder.
I also shot sand grouse one morning with Fred's SKB 12 ga over/under. 59 in one hour. I've never had wingshooting like that before.
Fred is an absolute delight to hunt with and made me smile the whole time even while constantly climbing over rocks and bending under thornbushes. He is a raconteur par excellence!
I don't know if I'm letting the cat out of the bag prematurely but he has about 70 of what he calls the world's rarest antelope at his Daweb ranch on 20,000 acres: golden Gemsbok caused by a recessive gene, I think. A few bulls should be available for harvest in a year or two. I didn't have a telephoto lens along but he promised to send me a picture of them when he gets back home to East London, SA. | ||
