Thank you Saeed. Especially with how much flack they have been taking recently, always good to see the ladies join in the action.

Marius, those are great pictures!

Like others have mentioned, some very impressive bushbucks. I really like that bushbuck with the fast twists in the father and son picture with the warthog.

Great trophies; especially the kudu and bushbuck.

That tall narrow kudu is a beauty.

Sounds like a fun hunt. In the States sometimes a mountain lion or bear will get after the hounds. Do the caracals ever go for the hounds? - just curious.

Most cats will tree. However, a couple of the bigger cats will challenge the dogs and stay on the ground to take them on. If you look at the photo below, you will see the cat has a wet coat. This particular cat did not tree and backed into a small pond. One of the dogs got too close, and the Caracal slammed its paws into the back of the dogs neck and dragged it under the water. The handler kicked the dog off, which gave the hunter a chance to make the shot.
Keep in mind that a Caracal is far from the size of your Mountain Lion, so will hardly be a threat to a dogs life. However, ferocious and punching above their weight for power is an understatement.

This photo is of my Jack Russel tracking dog. One of our hunters wounded a Caracal just by chance from the deck of our lodge early one morning before breakfast. As we were not on a hound hunt, we made use of what we had... Wink
His ego took a bigger beating than the physical wounds. No honor in being beaten up by a cat....

Here is the culprit:

Absolutely great dogs! Just added a second one to the ranks. On Bushbuck, two dogs are a lot safer for the hunter and the dogs.
Jack Russels - too much heart to fit into that small body though.

Yip, he's good. He's about 1 hr from us. He was busy running the hounds for my hunter, when the Caracal got wounded and whacked my dog early the morning.
