I had not planned on hunting Africa this year due to a nearly empty bank account. I happened to catch a post from eye doc about a discounted archery hunt in Namibia. Quite honestly the price sounded to low to be true but I followed up on it and the references all were good so I went ahead and bought it. This was my 5th trip over and my first with a bow. I am not a die hard bow hunter, I bow hunt to extend my hunting season and I have used it quite a bit on deer, pigs, and javelina. That being said I really had a good time and would not mind doing it again sometime.

I hunted with Antonie Louw of Makalaan Safaris which I booked through Lori Ginn of International Outdoor Consultants. Lori also has Travel Express so I booked airfare through her as well. I stayed overnight at the Afton House and then on the way back we stayed at Onganga in Windhoek for a couple of nights so my wife could do some shopping.

The lodging and food were good at Makalaan and the quality and quantity of game was outstanding. I was going to take all non-trophy animals but I just couldn't pass up one kudu bull so there will be more shipping and taxidermy in my future.

I couldd nap in the tree because this fellow would let me know when something was coming in.

My best shot of the trip, two guineas one arrow.

The good life.

Had a great time and ended up taking nine animals. Thanks for looking.

Wendell, I would have shot the eland and the dik dik if I hadn't sent all of my money to you last year for the elephant hunt! Just kidding, the elephant hunt was worth every penny.

Thanks for your kind words! I would not have reccommended this hunt if I did not know and love Makalaan so much myself. I am looking forward to hunting there again in late July and August.

Congrats on that great kudu! Also, those are some really great photos as well. So glad to hear that you had a great time.

We seldom get to choose
But I've seen them go both ways
And I would rather go out in a blaze of glory
Than to slowly rot away!
