John had a booth in Reno and I certainly liked what I heard from him. I am looking for leopard and buff along with some PG in one hunt. He has two concessions in Tanzania one in the Selous and the other MK1. Any one hunted with John or know of his reputation??

I left out the name of his outfit: Big Game Trackers. Again if any one knows of him or his Safari name and reputation I would appreciate it.

Man it is hard to beleive no one has heard of J. M. Venter (PH). One other name he goes by is (Hunters Moon Safaris). I get nervous with no references, especially as many of you that have been to Africa.

I know John M Venter as a hard working reliable and honest hunter, with a very high ethic on fair chase safaris

I don't kow him, but MK1 is in the Selous. Last I knew, the concession holder was Intercon Adventure Safaris. I hunted MK1 in 2002. Personally, I thought it was a marginal concession, plus the camp and staff (provided by Intercon) were substandard. Intercon sells quota to a lot of PHs and, in my opinion, they don't manage the concession very well.

Regards,

Terry

I do not know him.

I would give you a bit of general advice though:

Do not hunt with ANY PH that does not have at least 3-5 personal references from the past 1 or 2 seasons. Also be sure to talk with people who hunted in the actual area you will be hunting.

I would also add that you should get a copy of their PH license if at all possible.

Being a nice or knowledgable PH is NOT enough to spend your hard earned cash.

You are definitely doing the right thing by looking for independent knowledge of the PH.

Just my 2 cents for what it is worth.

Todd

Big Game trackers is a very welknown outfit amongst us(P.H's) Although I do not know them personaly, or hunted with them, I can say that I have heard MANY good stories about their outfit. Try and get at least 3 personal ref. from last year.
