Just got back from a 10-day hunt with KMG Safaris in the East Cape of South Africa. The trip was successful largely due to the tremendous efforts of Nick, my PH. All five animals I requested were taken by day 7. Accommodations & food were excellent. I cannot say enough good things about Marius, the owner, and PH Nick. Nick worked tirelessly to find quality animals. His dedication and professionalism are above reproach. I have hunted before in Africa, British Columbia, Scotland, England, Turkey and various locations in the US. Without a doubt, Nick was the best PH I've had. He spared no effort to ensure I got good animals and to look after my well being. The terrain in the portion of the East Cape where we hunted was mountainous and characterized by steep slopes covered with loose rocks and heavy, 2-3M high brush which was impenetrable. This was not an easy hunt and perhaps, the most physically challenging of any activity I have attempted. Unlike a previous hunt in Zimbabwe, this was tough hunting and not a walk in the park. I had planned to use my M98 in 9.3x62 but the Schmidt and Bender scope did not survive the plane ride despite being in a padded rifle case inside a hard Tufpak. I used Marius' rifle instead and at no charge. I used Rifle Permits to get the South African Police rifle permits and to escort me through the J'burg airport. This was money well spent. The whole process was easy & all I had to do was tag along with my guide. I absolutely recommend Rifle Permits or a travel agency arranged guide to get through police requirements at the airport and to deliver you stress free to your gate. I can highly recommend Marius, Nick, and KMG Safaris for those interested in a quality and challenging hunt. | |||

Some fine trophies Roger. I hate to hear about the scope mishap, one always enjoys shooting their own firearm (especially when they hand-built it) but glad to see you made lemonade out of lemons! Glad it was a memorable safari! On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.
