We just booked a 15 day hunt in Chirisa and the Sengwa Research Area for March/April 2008. We are looking for elephant, leopard and buffalo.

Who can help me with new informations regarding the game population / poaching situation in this area?

Thanks Roger

Roger,

I will be hunting there in 3 weeks and can give you an up-to-date report upon my return. Do a search here in the Forums on Chirisa and you will get a few hits.

Check to see if the owner of the Sengwa Research area concession is on the State Depts. hit list.

RJ61:

Sengwa is being operated by Ben Matiwaza, a former general in Mugabe's army. The name of his operation (at least on the sign at the entrance to the property) Tent Peg Safaris.

Good luck

Spanishhunter,

I will be going after buff primarily in Chirisa, still trying to work out a bull ele, and any residual quota remaining! Then to KweKwe for sable. Good luck on the lion!

Spanishhunter,
The conditions at Chirisa should be great for tracking Lion at this time of the year.
This is an enjoyable way to hunt for the grande Leo.

The Charisa safari area and the Sengwa Research areas are owned and operated by two different operators. Sengwa is much smaller than Charisa and it borders Charisa on the west side.
