I just returned Oct 21 from Mungari camp and Coutada 11. I concur with everything times 2! Had a blast hunting the forest buffalo for 5-6 days was on a herd every morning and night and passed up a dozen bulls, mostly too immature and soft or no drop. Never tracked a good batchelor herd, but managed while doing that to get a 30" Nyala, 13" warthog (best in the group was almost 16") 16 1/2 "+ bushbuck trophy reedbuck and a suni. Saw some great sable and wanted a waterbuck but I was tapped out after opting to shoot 2 buffalo in the swamp. Saw a huge heard of elephant and a german client took a 60 pounder. The amount of game was incredible. Unfortunetly poaching is rampant as well, human encroachment is getting severe. Hopefully the relocation efforts will prevail, and the children will attend the school that ZDS built. Poen and Rye are top notch guys and hard hunters, and my bufalo crazed PH Ben was having a great time chasing the herds, but was disapointed he did not get to use his beloved .500 NE Kreighoff as there was no buffalo drama whatsoever. My .416 RM with 430 nortforks hit them hard, and was a one shot kill on my big one. Sean is a great dude and aspiring pilot, we had alot to talk about, like I hope they get the Caravan! My wife had a great time (very great camp for significant others) and actually wants to go back and kill more buffalo! She was with us the whole time and is a converted hunter! One of our guys got a hard won croc as well.

I can't recommend ZDS enough, the camp staff, Mark Haldane and PH's really were incredible. Need to start saving pennies to return! Was a fantastic first trip for me and seeing how this place churns out trophies such as yours and our group is really is a special place.

Sorry for jumping in on your thread but I got all excited reading your report and had a flashback!

The Elephant herd was reported as 200+. I personally saw about 50 as they were getting dispersed due to a hard hunt.....The herd we took our buff from was 800-1000 animals. I have pics Wink Not sure where else you can see herds that size? The forest Buff were in smaller herds, but the largest amounted to 80+. It was truly incredible. And the sable ran into the hundreds as well....In fact it looked like a wild animal park on steroids with incredible warthog and reedbuck as well. I will work on a hunt report......

You USED to be able to see buffalo herds in Moyowasi and Selous (TZ) that size. Botswana at the right time and place can still do as well..That is about it to my knowledge..Luangwa Valley (Zambia) maybe.

+2 Gunslinger! I would love to see a hunting report on your safari and pictures of your trophies. Are they up on the Zambeze Delta website right now?
