For long now, you gentle men have been generous in sharing your exploits of the hunt.Great pictures, videos, stories and indeed your entire safari/hunt on cd/thumbdrive sent out just for the asking.
In some really dark times, that is what has kept me going. Some of you astute gents out there will remember the time i won a 5 day safari to South Africa, that did not come about, but.... the flicker of a dream is now a torrent of reality...i leave on Tuesday the 23rd of August 2016 for a 15 day cull hunt in South Africa.

I will be the guest of Sharyn Leroux,One on One Safaris and albeit not anywhere on the scale of what alot of you gents have regaled us all with. This is my middle finger to adversity, and the first of many such trips i hope.

1 Kudu Bull
· 2 Impala Rams
· 2 Blesbuck
· 1 Blue Wildebeest
· 1 Zebra
· 3 Warthogs

I fly Auckland via Perth to Johannesburg and back the same way, stopping off at Perth to catch up with friends and back.
My question to the well travelled on this forum is....is it possible to buy a Garmin gps and maps at JNB Airport?
i welcome your advice and comments in general...

more pictures to come ofcourse....

Wish you the best for your first African hunt.
I did my first one in Zim, in June. Loved every minute of it.
Hunt hard and shoot straight.

Best of luck with the hunt.

It might be easier/cheaper to use your phone for navigation in Jhb than buying a garmin & maps - just buy a local simcard with data

Hendrik,I wonder if we have ever met,(Tikka.223,suppressed,compact)? The Garmin is to track my course over those 14 days and transpose those tracks over maps as a record of my wanderings.

Good hunting! Just got back from a wing shoot/ trout fishing/ touring Krueger trip and had great success. Wishing you the same!

Have fun, mate. Remember to tell yourself that when things start to go pear shaped, "it's Africa"

Have fun mate.

Who made the ammo holder & belt?

I got mine for 416 Rigby & 9.3X62 done by Les Matheson of Napier.
