FFanizziCM Safaris Big 5 Report
I am submitting this hunt report at the conclusion of a recent safari to the Dande region of Zimbabwe with Charlton / McCallum Safaris. I am extremely happy to report that this epic adventure could not have gone better and fulfilled all of my expectations of this first time trek Zimbabwe. I had the pleasure of being guided by PH Myles McCallum for this two week adventure. Myles and his staff are true professionals in every sense of the word. A keen sense of a clients wishes while on safari as well as time efficiency of the hunt and safety all combined for a truly memorable experience.
My hunt began with the taking of a beautiful hippo bull that was utilized as subsistence food for the local villagers as well as bait for my eventual successful leopard hunt. Following the leopard, I was fortunate enough to take a 60 inch trophy kudu bull, a bush pig, a trophy bull elephant, as well as a hard bossed cape buffalo. To finish the adventure, we were also able to hunt several species of franklin, sand grouse and also took a beautiful impala on the final day.
It is impossible for me to say enough about how much I enjoyed the spirit of fair chase and the ability to pursue these wild creatures on their terms in their home environment.
This hunt report is completely unsolicited and comes out of my own personal thoughts on Charlton / McCallum Safaris and how they conduct business. I highly recommend Charlton / McCallum Safaris for any adventurer looking for a proper, fair chase hunt for dangerous game on the Dark Continent. I already have plans to return in 2025.

30.06kingThankyou for your hunt report and congrats on your hunt and trophies. I too believe CMS are fantastic outfitters for a Zim hunt and manage first class concessions. Would love to see pics of your trophies, particularly the Kudu and Buff.
Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.

We would like to see the hunt report, with pictures.
No hiding hunters faces please.

FFanizzi, Welcome to AH.
your first post was a wonderful start, and very few members would be able to say their first posting was a successful hunt in Africa.
You had a well organized safari planned and it came together one day at a time.
When you have some time and elect to post some of your photograph that would be great.
Your safari was successful on many fronts, and the forum members would love to hear some addition day by day happening.

I think most hunters have a great first safari!
If they didn’t they wouldn’t go again!

larryshoresFrom Myles:
Hi Larry - yes sure! We hung up x 8 baits (mostly hippo and some buff) and on day 5 had 3 toms to choose from. This guy looked best of the three from trail cam pics, so we sat on the evening of the 6th day and he was in well before dark. Fred popped him and he did not move 5 paces. I snapped that pic as we went down to collect him. I thought it was an interesting or unusual pic so that is why i sent that rather than the normal posed ones!
Also, the kudu was shot at 420 yards! Apparently, Fred is quite the marksman.
01 March 2023, 16:09
SaeedThank you.
Just thought it might have been shot off bait.

It doesn't really matter.
He had a great hunt, and that is how it should be.
And no one was ashamed of showing their faces, which as it should be.
Wow! Congrats and thanks for sharing. Amazing bag of animals. Top class. And no silly blurred faces !!!
