This hunt was booked with John LaSala of African Hunting Safaris http://www.africanhuntingadventures.com/. John booked me with PH and Outfitter Deon Cillier, owner of Hunters Safaris in South Africa. Deon has many consessions including his own property of several thousand acres. Construction is underway on his new lodge on the property.

I harvested Waterbuck, Eland, Kudu, and Gemsbok on one of his consessions in the North West Province a few Kilometers from the Botswana border. Accomodations were comfortable and the food was traditional South African Fare. We enjoyed excellent South African Wine with meals.

We moved to the Free State where I harvested Springbuck and Jackal. Accomodations at Deons Farm were comfortable with Traditional South African Fare. A bonus was the always available Gemsbok Sausage.

Five of the Six animals harvested fell with a single shot. The sixth tested Deons ability track a wounded animal. He tracked the Eland many hours, following spoor I could not see. An excellent job.

I enjoyed Deon's knowlege of South Africa as his family has been in Africa for many generations.

Total cost for 8 hunting days plus travel days before and after the hunt was $6,015 plus airfare and gratuities.

Jim,

I've also already hunted with Deon / Hunters Safaris in 2001 and can only really recommend him and his operation.

I hunted with his second PH Kallie, but met Deon on one farm (he was busy with another client) and took 2 Impala, Eland, Waterbuck, Warthog, Zebra, Black Wildebeest, Spingbock and Blessbock - it was a great hunt

In the are close to Botswana did you also stay in a house / logde next to a small lake - then we were in the same area - I took my first impala and the eland there? (I didn't visit his farm, but in addition was also hunting on a farm near Poetchefstroom and in another area near Thabazimbi)

Glad that you had a great hunt - do you have any pictures?

Best regards,

Erik
