Has anyone hunted with Harloo Safaris, Edmond Rouillard in SA? Looking at booking a nyala hunt with them. Only 1 post found on a search. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks

My wife and I hunted Harloo in Nov. 08. We had a great time and we saw big nyala every day. The camp, staff, and food is top notch. If you finish hunting early they are only about 15 minutes from lake Jozini and the fishing is great. We caught tiger fish, catfish, and tilapia. while we were fishing we had game coming to the water all day including elephant. I plan on hunting with them again. If you have a choice ask for Brian as your PH. DRSS

Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it, even from an Okie (just kidding my family is made up of mostly Okie's). All of the research so far has been positive. What did you harvest while you were there?

Hey, at least I’m not a Texan. I hunted buffalo and bushbuck. I am one of the unlucky ones that got ripped off in the Usangu debacle but I still wanted a buffalo. Anyway, Edmond offered a very good deal on a buff and all of his references were positive and he could fit me in late in the year. It was very green and thick in November and I passed on a bushbuck the first morning, and of course we never saw another. I took a buff on the third day and as it was pretty warm we decided to fish instead of hunt the rest of the time. Next time I go it will be for nyala, if I had not been out of money I would have taken one this time. DRSS

I have not hunted with Harloo Safaris but I did talk to them this year at the SCI show. They were super friendly and no pressure at all to book a hunt. I got their information and got on their email list. If I were booking another hunt I would definetly look at them as a possiblility. Greg

As a Hunting Outfitter myself, I have not hunted with them. But I did evaluate the place as a possible venue to take my clients to for a South African buffalo hunt. Brain seems a very good guy and while he showed me around we saw a number - cannot remember how many, but more than just a few - trophy class nyala. The buffalo were classed as not put 'n take - in other words I believe that the bulls offered were bred and grew up in that area. Camp and facilities were very impressive. In short: I will easily take one of my clients to hunt buffalo and nyala there. In good hunting.
